My Thoughts
This is the fourth and final book in the Velvet series by Jude Deveraux. I know from reading many reviews not many have enjoyed this series, but I did. I read the series the first time in my teens and then multiple times thereafter. They are books that really hold up and you enjoy returning to them often.
In the final book, we meet Miles the youngest Montgomery brother. He is known for being a ladies' man. Women adore him. He has quiet power about him. As the youngest, he is also the most quiet and kind of loner.
We originally meet Elizabeth Chatsworth in the third book as she helps Raines' wife Alyx. She is the sister to Roger Chatsworth and as part of that family is a sworn enemy of the Montgomery. When she is delivered to Miles wrapped in a carpet, it is with the intention that Miles will seduce her and ship her back ruined. But Miles sees more in Elizabeth than just his enemy he sees how frightened she truly is and sets out to teach her what true love is.
I loved how patient Miles was with Elizabeth. It was so super sweet watching them learn and grow. I also loved how Elizabeth took to Miles's son Kit.
As the story progresses, we see the Montgomery and the Chatsworth work through their anger. Alice who is the original villain is finally done away with. We saw the Montgomery men grow and learn to love and we saw strong independent women learn to compromise and love. These books
I found this series to be a series of love, growth, and memorable characters who I love revisiting time again.
