My Thoughts

Stuck With You by Stacy Williams is an incredibly poignant and heartfelt romance that I absolutely could not put down. Clocking in at over 400 pages, this very slow-burn story completely drew me in, and I didn't mind the length one bit—I simply couldn't get enough of Sarah and Slade.

The story follows Sarah Atwater, a single mom to her two young children, Ollie and Frankie. After a painful divorce, she moves into her inherited grandmother's house to start over, juggling a new job as a paralegal while taking classes to become a lawyer. Her life is a constant struggle, but she is fiercely determined and hardworking, doing anything for her children. Enter Slade Bennett, a gruff, blunt mechanic who took over Cal’s Garage after working there for a decade. Having raised his own little sister after their mother passed, Slade is protective and kind-hearted, but he is also deeply guarded, wary of being hurt again.

Their journey begins with a rocky first meeting when Sarah brings her car into the shop; Slade mistakenly assumes she is a wealthy lawyer based on her car, while Sarah isn't afraid to poke fun at his grumpy demeanor. Things take a turn when they discover they are neighbors, and after a basement flood forces Sarah and her kids to temporarily move in with Slade and his sister, the proximity sparks a slow, emotional evolution in their relationship. Watching them grow from wary strangers into a sweet, supportive bond is beautiful, especially seeing how naturally Slade steps up for Sarah and her children. Little Ollie, in particular, completely stole the show and my heart throughout the book.

The narration by Madeleine Dauer and Alex Kydd is nothing short of phenomenal. Dauer perfectly captures Sarah’s strength, vulnerability, and humor—I felt every bit of her exhaustion and determination through her voice. Kydd is equally spectacular, bringing a growly, protective warmth to Slade that made me swoon, while also effectively voicing the arrogance of other characters. Together, they masterfully bring this story of finding trust after betrayal to life.

Filled with laughter, emotional depth, a wonderful cast of meddling friends at the garage, and a tender, hard-won happily ever after, this book is an absolute must-read. It is a raw, relatable, and deeply moving story that I 1000% recommend to anyone looking for a romance that packs an emotional punch.
