The plot centers on Silas, the broody, morally gray president of the Crimson Crows, whose life is governed by secrets and peril. His world is upended when he agrees to protect Brinley—the sister of his enemy—who arrives at his doorstep with nothing but fury and confusion. Brinley is a brilliant "wildfire" of a character; she is sassy, smart, and refuses to be intimidated by Silas’s grumpiness, making their enemies-to-lovers dynamic crackle with electric tension.
