About Melanie Moreland
New York Times/WSJ/USAT International bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of thirty-plus years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.
While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys traveling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.
Melanie loves stories, especially paired with a good wine, and enjoys skydiving (free falling over a fleck of dust) extreme snowboarding (falling downstairs), and piloting her own helicopter (tripping over her own feet.) She's learned happily-ever-afters, even bumpy ones, are all in how you tell the story.

My Thoughts
A Simple Love by Melanie Moreland is the perfect summer read, delivering a beautiful second-chance romance that left me swooning from start to finish. The story follows Oliver Hart, a Hollywood heartthrob whose career is on the decline, as he is forced to return to his small hometown of Richton—the site of his greatest regret. There, he comes face-to-face with Kassie Brennan, the girl he once loved and the one he left behind to pursue his dreams.
The dynamic between Oliver and Kassie is deeply compelling, blending second-chance tropes with a charming neighbors-to-lovers feel. Every moment of their reunion is filled with undeniable chemistry, from the lingering memories of their past to the flirtatious spark that refuses to die. Their pet names for each other—"Lovely" and "Ollie"—melted my heart and added such a tender, personal layer to their journey. I was consistently impressed by how unique this story felt; it stands out in the genre with elements that I haven't encountered before, making it a truly fresh experience.
Beyond the romance, I was struck by how well the narrative handles the tension of whether the past can truly stay in the past or if their hearts will inevitably decide their future. The emotional stakes felt real, and the way their connection builds is both satisfying and deeply moving. It is a testament to Melanie Moreland’s talent that she creates such authentic, lovable characters that I found myself falling for them all over again by the time I finished.
The audiobook narration by John Lane and Maxine Mitchell is nothing short of brilliant. They do an amazing job bringing Oliver and Kassie to life, infusing the performance with exactly the right amount of emotion and charm. Their delivery perfectly captures the warmth and longing at the heart of the story, making this an essential listen. If you are looking for a beautiful, swoon-worthy romance, I cannot recommend this book enough; it is a five-star experience that highlights why Melanie Moreland is such a standout voice in the genre.
