Audacious in a Kilt, the seventeenth book in Anna Durand’s beloved Hot Scots series, delivers a thrilling, action-packed romantic suspense that is equal parts funny, passionate, and delightfully steamy. While it functions perfectly as a standalone, the story beautifully expands the series lore by immersing readers in a tight-knit Scottish small town.

About Anna Durand

Anna Durand is a bestselling, multi-award-winning author of contemporary and paranormal romance. Her books have earned bestseller status on every major retailer and wonderful reviews from readers around the world. But that’s the boring spiel. Here are some really cool things you want to know about Anna!

Born on Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, Anna grew up moving here, there, and everywhere thanks to her dad’s job as an instructor pilot. She’s lived in Texas (twice), Mississippi, California (twice), Michigan (twice), and Alaska—and now Ohio.

As for her writing, Anna has always invented stories in her head, but she didn’t write them down until her teen years. Those first awful books went into the trash can a few years later, though she learned a lot from those stories. Eventually, she would pen her first romance novel, the paranormal romance Willpower, and she’s never looked back since.

My Thoughts

Audacious in a Kilt, the seventeenth book in Anna Durand’s beloved Hot Scots series, delivers a thrilling, action-packed romantic suspense that is equal parts funny, passionate, and delightfully steamy. While it functions perfectly as a standalone, the story beautifully expands the series lore by immersing readers into a tight-knit Scottish small town.

Longtime fans will appreciate the cameos from familiar favorites, including the return of Rory’s castle as a trusted safe haven for anyone running from trouble, while newcomers will easily fall for the deep family ties and the legacy of the MacTaggart clan.

The audiobook version features an exceptional dual narration by Lucy Rivers and Will Watt, who masterfully bring the story's high-stakes emotions and suspense to life. Watt is the perfect choice for the passionate, rugged hero, while Rivers brilliantly captures the no-nonsense yet loving nature of the heroine.

The adventure begins when Gretchen Carver leaves her apartment in Tennessee for a vacation in Scotland, encouraged by her parents to find a little excitement. She certainly finds it when she crosses paths with Kirk Balfour, a massive, handsome, and daring stuntman who travels the world doing death-defying stunts for a living. Their instant, sky-high chemistry leads to what is meant to be a single, toe-curling one-night stand.

However, after one of his stunts goes wrong, a smitten Kirk realizes he can't just let her go. Determined to see her again, he seeks Gretchen out to show her his hometown, introduce her to his family, and offer a proper look at what he wears under his kilt.

The fun, smoldering passion quickly turns into a wild ride when danger surfaces. An old foe from Kirk's past resurfaces, and because Kirk falls hard and fast for Gretchen, she is instantly thrust into the bully's crosshairs.

As the suspense slowly builds alongside Kirk's daring professional stunts, the danger escalates to a breaking point when the villain proves he has lined the right pockets, threatening to snatch Gretchen away. Forced into a protective role, Kirk and his loyal team will do whatever it takes to keep her safe, holding readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page.

Full of heart, intense bedroom spice, and captivated pacing, Audacious in a Kilt is a fantastic addition to the series that will leave listeners eager to see which of Kirk's teammates gets their own story next.
