Kissing the Chef by S.M. West, narrated with emotional depth by Samantha Brentmoor and Gabriel Spires, is a delicious candy bar of a romance. This revised and expanded story, formerly titled Made to Love, follows Olivia Cassidy, a forty-two-year-old successful design firm owner and divorced mother of two. Olivia is happily embracing her "party-for-one" lifestyle until she meets Sam Beaulieu, a thirty-five-year-old celebrity chef who is as charming as he is persistent.

Book Description

Happily ever after? Been there, done that, burned the wedding dress.

Happily divorced, I’m now the boss of my own design firm, and my bed is strictly a party-for-one situation.

Until Sam Beaulieu—celebrity chef, five stars in an apron, and way too young for me—asks me to dinner.

There’s only one right answer.

No.

But resisting him is about as easy as swearing off dessert.

So I give in.

To his charm. His sinful mouth. His maddening ability to make me feel.

But this can only ever be a fling.

Because there’s no doubt this younger, irresistible man will break my heart.

And when he does, it won’t just end us–it’ll undo me.

A delectable reverse age-gap romance from USA TODAY bestselling and award-winning author S.M. West.

Previously published as Made to Love.
Kissing the Chef is a revised and expanded edition, now featuring over 12,000 additional words, including brand-new scenes in Sam’s point of view and a refreshed title to reflect its place as Book One in the 6ix Loves series.

My Thoughts

Kissing the Chef by S.M. West, narrated with emotional depth by Samantha Brentmoor and Gabriel Spires, is a delicious candy bar of a romance. This revised and expanded story, formerly titled Made to Love, follows Olivia Cassidy, a forty-two-year-old successful design firm owner and divorced mother of two. Olivia is happily embracing her "party-for-one" lifestyle until she meets Sam Beaulieu, a thirty-five-year-old celebrity chef who is as charming as he is persistent.

The beauty of this reverse age-gap romance lies in its grounded, relatable execution. Olivia’s hesitation feels incredibly real; she isn’t just worried about the seven-year age difference, but also about the complexities of her life as a freshly divorced mom to a college-aged son and a teenage daughter. S.M. West handles these dynamics with finesse, avoiding unnecessary drama in favor of genuine tension and the very real struggle of integrating a new partner into a family.

Sam is a fantastic lead who is completely taken with Olivia but wise enough to let their courtship evolve naturally. Because they live in different cities, their relationship isn't built on an instantaneous declaration of love, but on a steady journey of getting to know one another. The story breathes through these moments of distance and the reality of their separate lives, making the eventual strong feelings at the end of their journey feel earned and deeply passionate.

The narrative also beautifully explores the fears that come with a second chance at love. Between an ex-husband who wants her back and the vulnerability of starting over, Olivia’s journey is touching and moving. Supported by a loving cast of family and friends, Sam and Olivia work together to overcome insecurities and the stigma of their age gap. The result is a refreshing, sexy, and heartwarming "happily ever after" that proves love is worth the risk, even when you've already burned the wedding dress.
