Book Description

Can they endure captivity, corruption, and deceit to give love a chance?

When FBI analyst Noah Parker receives a call from a ghost from his past—the man who shot him—the last thing he expects is credible intelligence about a kidnapped woman. The only way to obtain the coordinates of her exact location is to act alone, without the bureau’s assistance. Time is running out for her survival before she’s relocated or killed.

Jasmine West's decision to follow a man who intrigued her while researching for her exposé seemed reasonable until everything went wrong. Now, she finds herself alone and terrified in a makeshift prison, left to wonder if she'll survive another day.

When a solitary man is dropped into her cell, she and Noah Parker forge an alliance to survive. Risking everything, they defy the odds and escape into the night. The longer they are together, the more apparent it becomes that her investigation and Noah’s family history are intertwined.

Each fact uncovered erodes the foundation of Noah’s life and reveals a larger plot aimed at harming the country he swore to protect. As Noah and Jasmine navigate the chaos of the present, their unexpected feelings for each other further complicate an already impossible situation.

When she publishes her story, the horrors of Noah’s past will be exposed to the public. As the stakes rise beyond his control and corruption threatens to obliterate everything around them, Noah and Jasmine must choose between their growing love and the need to reveal the truth, which could shatter them both.

My Thoughts

Breaking Point by Bailey Thomas, expertly narrated by Grace Grant and Christian Black, is a thrilling and captivating novel that plunges readers into a world of high-stakes danger, hidden secrets, and unexpected romance. The story intricately follows the intertwined journeys of Jasmine West, a curious freelance photographer and journalist, and Noah Parker, an FBI analyst who has recently put down roots in the peaceful town of Mill Creek.

Jasmine's pursuit of a career-making exposé leads her to follow a man who intrigues her, but she quickly stumbles into something much bigger and finds herself alone and terrified in a dangerous, makeshift prison. Meanwhile, Noah, now settled in Mill Creek and enjoying a promotion that allows him more freedom, is sprung into action when he receives a shocking phone call: the tip to save a kidnapped girl comes from a ghost from his past—the very man who once shot him. Knowing time is running out, Noah acts alone, unaware that this call will set his life up for monumental changes.

The plot kicks into high gear when Noah is dropped into Jasmine's cell, forcing them to forge an alliance to survive. They risk everything, defying the odds to escape into the night. As the story unfolds, the non-stop ride of emotions is filled with adventure, military operations, and suspenseful moments that will keep readers on the edge of their seats, trying to figure out the who, what, and how. The longer Noah and Jasmine are together, the more apparent it becomes that her investigation and Noah’s complex family history are deeply intertwined. Each fact uncovered erodes the foundation of Noah’s life, revealing a larger plot aimed at harming the country he swore to protect.

While the story is full of action and danger, it also allows an unexpected love to bloom. Their growing feelings for each other further complicate an already impossible situation. As the stakes rise and corruption threatens to obliterate everything around them, they face an impossible choice: sacrifice their love or reveal a truth that could shatter them both, especially once Jasmine publishes her story, exposing the horrors of Noah’s past to the public.

Although this is the third book in the Mill Creek Mystique Series, and reading the first two would undoubtedly enhance the understanding of Noah’s relationships and the delightful banter among his friends, Breaking Point can be enjoyed completely as a standalone novel. The author’s writing style and storytelling abilities are exceptional, weaving together a perfect blend of romance, danger, and mystery. The novel’s charm is amplified by the well-developed characters and the warm, homey atmosphere of Mill Creek and its citizens. Overall, this is a highly enjoyable read that combines a little bit of spice, love interest, and a lot of mystery, leaving fans craving more from Bailey Thomas.
