Better Daddy by Brittanee Nicole and Jenni Bara, the second installment in the Dad Coms series, is a heartfelt and addictive second-chance romance that completely stole my heart. The audiobook experience, enhanced by the brilliant narration of C.J. Bloom and Connor Crais, alongside a full cast including Angelina Rocca, Sean Masters, and Stephen Dexter, truly elevated this into one of the best listens of the year.

Book Description

From the Authors of the Mom Coms comes a laugh out loud new series featuring three single dads.

Fatherhood has never been so hilarious.

Sloane Marie Murphy is the only woman I've ever loved. She's my favorite person, the mother of my child and my soon to be ex-wife.

I've been wracking my brain trying to fix my family but when a provision in my late father's trust forces me to move my family and our law practice from New York City to a dump in Jersey I think all hope is lost. She'd rather sign the papers than move with me.

Until only one night, turns into two pink lines and now my father's ridiculous trust and the heir she's currently carrying, might just save my marriage.

Sloane might not like me at the moment, and she certainly doesn't love our living arrangements, but I'll do anything I can to not only be a better daddy but to prove she's the only woman for me.

About Brittanee Nicole & Jenni Bara

Brittanee Nicole is an author who lives in New England with her husband and two children. Her town is a character in itself in all of her books. When she is not writing she enjoys spending time outdoors by the water with her children, reading at the beach or by the pool (or really anywhere), dancing with her friends, singing Karaoke, spinning, bike riding and boating.

Jenni Bara lives in New Jersey working as a paralegal in family law, writing real-life unhappily ever-afters every day. In turn, she spends her free time with anything that keeps her laughing, including life with kids. She loves writing books with a great balance of life, love, and laughter.

My Thoughts

Better Daddy by Brittanee Nicole and Jenni Bara, the second installment in the Dad Coms series, is a heartfelt and addictive second-chance romance that completely stole my heart. The audiobook experience, enhanced by a brilliant full cast including C.J. Bloom, Connor Crais, Angelina Rocca, Sean Masters, and Stephen Dexter, truly elevated this into one of the best listens of the year.

The story centers on Sully, who admits he lost his way as a husband and father to Sloane Marie Murphy, the only woman he's ever loved and the mother of his child. After getting a glimpse of their turmoil in the first book, I couldn't wait for their story, and I eagerly consumed Better Daddy. Sully's determination to win Sloane back is evident from page one, providing the kind of intense groveling, raw emotion, and vulnerability that immediately hooks you. While Sully might have become more absent over the years, the depth of his love for Sloane and his fierce desire to change for his family shines through every page, making you cheer for him the whole way.

Sloane is an incredibly strong and independent heroine who knows her worth and is determined to stand on her own two feet. Having dealt with a lot, she refuses to settle for less, and I loved watching her discover herself and take control of what she wants. Their journey takes a sharp turn when a provision in Sully's late father's trust forces him and his family to move their law practice from New York City to a less-than-ideal location in Jersey. Sloane would rather sign the divorce papers than move with him, but a surprise that results in "two pink lines" suddenly throws a wrench into their plans, offering a chance to save their marriage.

The chemistry between Sloane and Sully is raw and real, and the narrative masterfully balances humor, tension, and genuine heartfelt moments. The protagonist's fight for his family is often set against ridiculous, yet hilarious, situations that keep the story light and touching. With the addition of a surprise twist and appearances from the entire wonderful crew we met in the first book—including the always-hilarious Madame E—this book delivers plenty of swoon-worthy moments and genuine emotion. It’s an absolutely addictive read that had me laughing, swooning, and maybe even shedding a few tears.
