Book Description

Beauty and the Beast meets Anastasia in this spicy, enemies-to-lovers fantasy where the romance is sharp, the tension & yearning are feral, and the betrayal unforgettable.

For years, Princess Ana has been a prisoner—kept alive by forbidden potions, hidden away while the kingdom of Trova rots under the rule of those who locked her away.

She was never meant to survive.
Yet she endured.
And she will not give up on Trova.
Not even in the dark of her cage.

Until the day it was breached—by a fae prince with eyes like fire.
His gaze was a spark in the sharp, intoxicating, impossible to resist.
And then he left her for dead.

But death never came.
Instead, escape did.

Now, as rival kingdoms clash and ancient forces stir, Ana is thrust into a world of ruthless courts, seductive bargains, and the dangerously magnetic prince who abandoned her once before.

He is temptation wrapped in thorns. The enemy she burns to hate. The desire she cannot silence.

But when fate throws them together once more, Ana must claim the vengeance she’s waited for… or risk everything on a man who might ruin her again.

My Thoughts

Curse of the Sun and Stars by Zara Storm absolutely blew me away. Narrated brilliantly by the dynamic duo of Jessie Elwyn & Christopher Andrews, this book is billed as Beauty and the Beast meets Anastasia. This debut installment is a scorching, enemies-to-lovers fantasy that delivers a sharp romance, the tension and yearning feral, and the betrayal unforgettable. The audiobook, narrated brilliantly by the dynamic duo of Jessie Elwyn & Christopher Andrews, truly brought this world to life. Their exceptional performance enhanced the sizzling chemistry and emotional depth of the characters, making this a spectacular listening experience.

For years, Princess Ana has been a prisoner, enduring in the dark while her kingdom of Trova rotted. She is the definition of a "girl who won’t go quietly"—bold, intelligent, and fiercely independent. Her life is upended when she escapes her cage and is thrust into a world of ruthless courts, dangerous bargains, and the discovery of a kingdom that is rightfully hers. I loved watching her fight back against the forces trying to control her; she is unyielding and unafraid to speak her mind.

Then there is Leon. Whew. This is one for the dark romance fans. Leon is a brooding, sharp-edged, and absolutely deadly fae prince—the "Nightmare Prince" persona he projects makes him the enemy Ana burns to hate. Yet, he is also the temptation she cannot silence. He is a morally black character with complex emotional layers, and every subtle glimpse of softness beneath his brutal exterior had me utterly swooning. He is the type of character you shouldn't trust but can't help falling for.

The chemistry between Ana and Leon is undeniable, forging the best kind of enemies-to-lovers arc. Leon initially sees Ana as a threat and a complication, but she slowly chips away at his icy armor simply by being her unyielding, honest self. Their dynamic is a constant push-pull, predator-prey dance that lingers just beneath the surface, keeping you completely on edge and wondering who will bend first.

Beyond the core couple, the book excels at building a vibrant world. The pacing was perfect—action-packed and engaging, making it impossible to put down. I’m also a huge sucker for found family, and this book delivered in the best way. Leon’s inner circle of warriors provided a dynamic and real camaraderie, and Ana’s beautiful, pure friendship with Tira added a touching layer of love and loyalty that balanced the darker themes.

I absolutely adored the main characters, the side characters, and the excellent plot. You just know when you get the five-star feels! The writing was masterfully done, and the ending left me desperate for more.

If you're in the mood for a new dark romantasy with a ruthless fae prince, a fierce heroine, and a story that has everything, Curse of the Sun and Stars is absolutely it.
