The rock star never planned on fatherhood. The nanny never planned on staying. But sometimes the biggest surprises come wrapped in pink bows and second chances.

Gavin “Rocket” Caldwell, member of the world’s biggest rock band, lives fast—sold-out tours, wild nights, and zero responsibilities. Until a three-year old daughter he never knew about lands on his doorstep, and suddenly, the party’s over.

Willow Adams is hired to help him adjust to being a dad—a steady, grounded nanny with a soft heart and a quiet strength he can’t ignore. She’s nothing like the women he’s used to. And maybe that’s exactly why he can’t stay away.

What starts as a temporary arrangement turns into something deeper, just as a custody battle threatens to take it all away. Rocket never wanted to be a father. But now? He’ll fight like hell—for the adorable little girl who changed everything, and the unexpected woman he never saw coming.

About K. Bromberg

New York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary romance novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy, and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines and damaged heroes, who we love to hate but can’t help to love.

A mom of three, she plots her novels in between school runs, sports practices, and figuring out how to navigate parenting teenagers (send more wine!). More often than not, she does all of this with her laptop in tow, and her mind daydreaming of the current hero she is writing.

Since publishing her first book on a whim in 2013, Kristy has sold over two million copies of her books across twenty different countries and has landed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists over thirty times. Her Driven trilogy has been adapted for film and is available on the streaming platform Passionflix as well as Amazon.

My Thoughts

Sweet Distraction, a forbidden romance by K. Bromberg and expertly narrated by Oliver Highpoint and Shiloh James, is a book that delivers far more than just a steamy rock star fantasy—it's a story brimming with heart, emotional growth, and the beautiful power of found family. The book introduces us to Gavin “Rocket” Caldwell, a member of the world's biggest rock band who has always lived a fast life of wild nights and zero responsibilities. That chaotic life comes to an abrupt halt when a three-year-old daughter he never knew about, little Poppy, lands on his doorstep. Suddenly, the party's over, and Rocket, an adult who struggles with love and feeling like enough due to his own distant childhood, must figure out how to be a father.

Enter Willow Adams, a steady, grounded nanny hired to help Poppy re-acclimate after the loss of her mother, whose communication has been hindered by the devastating change. Willow has a soft heart and a quiet strength that Rocket can't ignore, and she quickly steps into her role with the gusto of a mother, celebrating Poppy's small wins as the girl heals and feels safe. Told in a first-person, dual POV format, the story becomes a slow-burn romance as the temporary arrangement turns into something deeper. Willow is nothing like the women Rocket is used to, and that's exactly why he can’t stay away. The chemistry is hot and intense, but what truly makes the steamy scenes shine is the genuine emotional connection that develops underneath the heat.

What completely captivates the reader is the magical bond that forms between Rocket and his daughter. Watching him slowly transition from an emotionally closed-off rock star to a father who learns to love, protect, and truly show up is the most moving part of this book. He learns that being a father is about being present and offering unconditional love. Just as their unexpected family starts to form, a devastating custody battle threatens to take it all away. Rocket, who never planned on fatherhood, must now fight like hell for the adorable little girl who changed everything and the unexpected woman he never saw coming. The narration by Oliver Highpoint and Shiloh James truly brings the emotion and life to this beautiful story of new starts, second chances, and realizing what's truly important.
