My Thoughts
USA Today bestselling author Marni Mann has done it again! A Million Times, Yes delivers a wickedly delightful and intensely passionate romance that hits all the right notes for fans of the grumpy-alpha-turned-gooey-hero trope. Narrated flawlessly by Sean Masters and Samantha Brentmoor, this audiobook is an absolute must-listen.
Marni Mann consistently provides an overconfident alpha hero—allergic to commitment—who meets his match in a dazzling "unicorn" that brings him to his knees. Jordan, a former professional hockey player with chiseled muscles and an undeniable alpha personality, is exactly that hero. Maya, a gorgeous, sassy Boston nurse, is his unexpected kryptonite.
The electric connection between Maya and Jordan is immediate. Their daily five-mile running route is the backdrop for their scorching chemistry. They start with heated glances, progress to lingering smiles, and soon escalate to a desperate, uninhibited desire that sets their mornings on fire. Jordan, who "normally doesn’t date," falls fast for the beauty who keeps him on his toes.
What Jordan doesn't reveal is that he's actually a billionaire CEO—owner of half of Boston, an exotic car collection, and the most expensive penthouse in the city. And that's the rub: Maya loathes the rich.
The plot hinges on Jordan's hidden identity. He initially enjoys Maya not knowing who he is, but the lie escalates when he learns her painful history: her family lost their home because of his wealthy family, the Worthingtons. This deep-seated animosity means Jordan believes the only way to keep their addictive, once-in-a-lifetime connection is to keep his secret hidden. This tension adds significant stakes to their fast-burn romance as Jordan and Maya—who grew up on opposite sides of the wealth spectrum—try to navigate their instant connection.
And yes, this book is spicy! Marni Mann is truly a "fairy smut mother," seamlessly delivering a delicious, uninhibited good time. The intimate moments, including a highly memorable "romp in a very public area," are infused with the same palpable energy that defines their relationship.
This novel's already fun and spicy experience is significantly amplified by the audio performance. Sean Masters and Samantha Brentmoor are phenomenal. They don't just narrate; they perform, bringing Jordan and Maya to life and hooking the listener from the first minute. The dual POV, first-person narrative is a short and quick read (7 hours and 11 minutes), but the audio performance makes it fly by.
A Million Times, Yes is a highly recommended, fun, and addictive read!
