In The Live-In Temptation by Brighton Walsh, narrated by Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin, a grump's orderly life is hilariously upended by a dose of pure sunshine.
Book Description
Hiring the chaotic woman I pulled out of a shed fire to be my daughter's nanny was a bad idea. Letting her live with me? Even worse.
Chloe Bradshaw is too vibrant, too bold, and way too young for me. She's pure sunshine-in-a-hurricane energy and the exact opposite of the calm, steady influence my daughter needs.
But Emma adores her from the second they meet, and I'd do anything for my little girl. Including sharing a roof with the one woman I shouldn't want.
Chloe's the walking definition of off-limits. And one hell of a temptation I can't stop thinking about.
Between midnight snack run-ins, hair-braiding lessons, and the way she looks in my stolen hoodie, forbidden stopped being a warning and started feeling like a dare.
I swore I wouldn't cross that line with her. Then I did. Again. And again.
And now, what we both insisted was only temporary is starting to feel like it could be real. Suddenly, I'm not just her boss or her landlord. I'm the guy threatening to burn down anything that hurts her.
But the end date of our arrangement is looming, and her suitcase is still half-packed. She says she's not staying. I say she's already mine.
About Brighton Walsh
Award-winning USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first love—writing. She likes her books how she likes her tea—steamy and satisfying—and adores strong-willed heroines and the protective heroes who fall head over heels for them. Brighton lives in the Midwest with her real life hero of a husband, her two kids—both taller than her—and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore, frequent dance parties (okay, so it's mostly her, by herself, while her children look on in horror), and more laughter than she thought possible. My Thoughts
In The Live-In Temptation by Brighton Walsh, narrated by Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin, a grump's orderly life is hilariously upended by a dose of pure sunshine. Fire Chief Xander Steele, a single dad, is desperately in need of a nanny for his daughter, Emma. He finds an unlikely candidate in Chloe Bradshaw, a "chaotic woman" he literally just rescued from a shed fire. Despite Chloe being too bold, too vibrant, and too young for him, Emma instantly adores her, and Xander makes the questionable decision to hire her and let her move in. This choice quickly proves to be a terrible idea, and the excellent narration by Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin perfectly captures the delicious tension and emotional depth of their forced proximity.
Chloe is the walking definition of off-limits—a chaotic burst of energy—but she becomes an irresistible temptation that Xander can't stop thinking about. The dual narration brilliantly highlights the internal thoughts of both characters as their daily interactions, from midnight snack run-ins to hair-braiding lessons, blur the line between professional and personal. What started as a temporary arrangement begins to feel like something real, and Xander finds himself no longer just her boss, but the guy who will do anything to protect her.
This is a story of a chaotic sunshine heroine and her grumpy, soft-hearted hero. The witty banter between Chloe and Xander, amplified by the narrators, is a definite highlight. Their chemistry is scorching, and the story doesn't shy away from the heat. Little Emma, with her spunky and larger-than-life personality, steals every scene she's in. The narrative also weaves in the hilarious interactions of the broader Steele family, giving the story a heartwarming sense of community and "found family."
Brought to life by the voice talents of Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin, this captivating single-dad, nanny romance perfectly balances humor, spice, and heartfelt emotion. It's a story of finding yourself and learning to lean on the ones you love.
