Book Description
It starts out as a bet.
A way to forget about my latest in a string of bad relationships and move on.
I know it’s a mistake. My head and heart are just not into the game.
Until I see him...
The gorgeous man in the dark suit, drowning his sorrows in a glass of scotch is only supposed to be one night of fun. No strings and no expectations means no one gets hurt.
Right?
At least that's what I keep telling myself.
And when I wake up alone the next morning, it appears I’ve gotten everything I was after...until I find the shiny gold cufflinks he left behind...and discover Mr. One Night Stand is actually Dr. Jonah Hughes, my new boss.
Too bad that's just the beginning of my problems.

My Thoughts
J. Saman's The Edge of Temptation, narrated by Amy Melissa Bentley and Sean Hardisty, is a beautifully paced romance that will tug at your heartstrings.
The story begins with a bet. Trying to move on from a bad breakup, Halle agrees to a one-night stand with a gorgeous stranger she meets at a bar. But her no-strings-attached plan goes awry when she discovers her one-night stand, Dr. Jonah Hughes, is actually her new boss. The plot thickens as they navigate their undeniable chemistry and a major conflict of interest.
What makes this story so captivating is how it handles the delicate themes of love after loss. Jonah, a widower for two years, never expected to find love again. His grief feels palpable, and the budding romance with Halle feels like a betrayal of his deceased wife. Meanwhile, Halle is not looking for a relationship either, still reeling from a tumultuous breakup with a hacker ex that cost her her job. Their shared pasts make their connection even more powerful.
J. Saman’s writing shines with its excellent pacing. The author builds the relationship between Jonah and Halle effortlessly, all while weaving in a plot that keeps you turning the pages. I found myself completely invested in their journey, desperately hoping they would find a way to make it work.
The audiobook’s narration is also a highlight. Amy Melissa Bentley and Sean Hardisty bring a unique authenticity to the characters. Jonah, an American raised in England, has a subtle UK accent and colloquialisms that make him intriguing, while Halle's Southern accent from South Carolina adds to her sweet and relatable charm. The narrators do a fantastic job of bringing the hot and spicy scenes to life, making the romance sizzle.
If you love a great slow-burn romance with an engaging plot and a swoon-worthy hero, you need to add this to your list. J. Saman has delivered another excellent story that proves why she's a must-read author.
