Liberated by Sin written by Elle Maldonado and narrated by Grayson Owens & Janine Granda, is a masterful conclusion to this debut series. Though able to be consumed as a standalone, the story is much richer if you begin at the beginning with the first book in the series.

Book Description

Broken, violated, and left for dead.
I might have been breathing the day I woke up in that hospital room, but they had killed everything inside me that mattered.
With scars in my soul as deep as the ones on my skin, I craved revenge.

And I took it.
But as I lost myself in every faceless man whose blood stained my blade, the freedom I sought from my demons never came.

Until him.
Santino Leone fell for the girl I kept hidden behind a mask—the one whose jagged heart was never meant to be put back together but filled with all the sharp edges of his.
He was safe with promises of a future I didn’t know I deserved and a love I thought I’d never touch.
But when my secrets unravel, and the monsters of my past come to collect, will we rise and reap what’s owed or be delivered into the arms of death?

My Thoughts

Liberated by Sin written by Elle Maldonado and narrated by Grayson Owens & Janine Granda, is a masterful conclusion to this debut series. Though able to be consumed as a standalone, the story is much richer if you begin at the beginning with the first book in the series.

Broken, violated, and left for dead. My body may have survived, but a part of my soul died that day. With scars on my skin and a shattered heart, I craved revenge. The freedom I sought never came until I met him. Santino Leone fell for the girl I kept hidden, a girl with a heart as jagged as his own. He offered a future I didn't know I deserved and a love I never thought I'd find. But when my past unravels, and the monsters come to collect, will we rise and claim what's ours or be delivered into the arms of death?

Santino and Athena/Amara are an explosive pair. Athena endured unthinkable horrors and emerged a different person, now known as Amara. She seeks protection, healing, and revenge. Santino, a man with control over everything in his world, is instantly captivated by her. The moment he sees her on his stage, masked and untouchable, something inside him shifts. Amara is unlike anyone else—fierce, untamed, and cloaked in secrets he is desperate to unravel. He falls for her first and falls hard, becoming her possessive and relentless shadow. Loving her isn't a choice for Santino; it's inevitable.

Amara is a fierce and resilient queen. She has endured more than most could survive, and my heart shattered as her past was revealed. But she doesn't break; she rises, fueled by vengeance. She tells herself she doesn't need anyone and can finish what she started alone, but Santino refuses to let her fade into the darkness.

Together, they are fire and gasoline—volatile, dangerous, and impossible to ignore. Their chemistry is a slow-burn, thick with tension that crackles like a live wire. As secrets unravel, they're faced with a brutal choice: fight for each other or let vengeance consume them both.

As the final book in Elle Maldonado's debut series, Liberated by Sin is a stunning conclusion that delivers on every level. It's a story of pain, power, and redemption wrapped in blood-soaked vengeance. Maldonado masterfully weaves intricate plots, deeply flawed characters, and a romance so raw and all-consuming it leaves you breathless. The narration by Grayson Owens and Janine Granda is wonderful, bringing the story to life with emotion and intensity.

If you love morally gray heroes who are completely devoted to their women, heroines who carve out their own justice, and tension so thick it could kill you, this book is for you. While this audiobook can be listened to as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the series from the beginning to fully appreciate the characters' journeys and the intricate plot.
