Book Description

Jude Deveraux continues her beloved Montgomery saga in America with this dramatic, passion-filled tale of rebellion and love -- a breathtaking adventure to be savored all over again -- or discovered for the first time

The Raider

In colonial New England, the British are hunting a fearless, masked patriot whose daring foils them at every turn. He’s known simply as the Raider.

Jessica Taggert, a proud-tempered beauty, thrills to the Raider’s scorching midnight embrace, but despises Alexander Montgomery, the drunken town buffoon.

In truth, the cleverly disguised Montgomery lives two lives...and only his triumph over the hated Redcoats will free him, at last, to know the full pleasure of Jessica’s love.

My Thoughts

We once again return to the Montgomery family this time we are treated to Alex Montgomery. The youngest son of Sayer Montogmery.

When the town of Warbrooke is under attack by a greedy man married to Alex's sister he is called home along with his brothers. However, Alex is the only one who returns.

I loved this book because it was so much fun watching Alex try to balance dual roles. One as the dashing Raider and one as an overweight, whiney man. What Alex thought would be a great joke turns into a battle between dual personalities that begins to cause Alex a lot of trouble. I kept thinking of Robin Williams as Mrs. Doubtfire. It had me in stitches as Alex tried to balance the two personalities.

Then add Jessica Taggert to the mix and Alex had even more trouble. Between his growing feelings for Jessica and trying to keep her safe. I liked that Jessica slowly began to learn there is more to a person than courage and looks. I thought that she really began to learn that Alex's dress as an overweight man meant more to her than a quick tumble with a handsome man who she barely knew.

The adventures in this book were fun and I love that people were so good at keeping secrets like Jessica's sister and Jessica's young brother and Sayer Alex's father.

Overall another wonderful book by Jude Deveraux.
