Book Description

He wasn’t supposed to fall in love with her...

The Marquess of Overlea’s plan was perfect. Marry the desperate Louisa Evans, saving her and her siblings from ruin, and produce an heir. But when he proposes, Nicholas doesn’t tell her the real reason they must wed so quickly.

They are married when Louisa learns the Marquess doesn’t intend to father his future heir himself. Drawn to her new husband in a way she never expected, Louisa has no intention of agreeing to his scandalous proposition. Instead, she shows him that what is developing between them goes far beyond a typical marriage of convenience.

Nicholas never imagined he would fall in love with Louisa. Despite the distance he tries to put between them, one thing soon becomes clear—he will never allow another man to touch her. Even if it dooms his family’s future.

About Suzanna Medeiros

USA Today bestselling author Suzanna Medeiros was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Her love for the written word led her to pursue a degree in English Literature from the University of Toronto. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Education degree, but graduated at a time when no teaching jobs were available. After working at a number of interesting places, including a federal inquiry, a youth probation office, and the Office of the Fire Marshal of Ontario, she decided to pursue her first love – writing.

Suzanna is married to her own hero and is the proud mother of twin daughters. She is an avowed romantic who enjoys spending her days writing love stories.

She would like to thank her parents for showing her that love at first sight and happily ever after really do exist.

My Thoughts

This is one of those typical romances where the rich guy doesn't want to marry and the poor girl needs to save herself and her family.

I love this kind of story because there is always a good backstory. Like the guy had his heartbroken or he was betrayed. The girl comes from a family where the father gambled or the mother died. Whatever the backstory it always leads to a great story of sexual tension, healing, and eventually love.

With that, all said what really got me was the mysterious illness that plagued our hero. I was very intrigued especially when the writer introduced gardening into the story. Without giving too much away I loved the idea of the healing/poisonous element of flowers.

Overall this was a wonderful story of a strange illness, a plot to beget an heir, and the evils of family. I found it to be intriguing, fun, and a pure joy to read. I even was surprised by the ending as I thought I knew how it would end and then it took a turn.

I would recommend this as a great read by the pool or in front of the fireplace.
