Love Me Wild by: Dakota Davies (Audio Review)

Love Me Wild by USA Today bestselling author Dakota Davies is the explosive, heart-pounding conclusion to the Love Me Dangerous series, and it is easily my favorite installment yet. Set in the rugged wilderness of Finn River, Idaho, this small-town romantic suspense perfectly balances high-stakes mystery with deeply emotional romance. What makes this entry particularly impressive is the way Davies expertly juggles two distinct, interconnected love stories alongside a gripping plot involving a dangerous cult, all without sacrificing character development or pacing.

Book Description

My first day on the job as a conservation officer for the wildest district in Idaho ends in disaster when I find out the girl who rode my thigh and made expert use of her mouth in the back of a crowded bar four nights ago is none other than my grumpy mentor’s spirited daughter.

But it’s worse than having to explain my obsession with the girl who ran off before I could get her number, because she begs me to keep us a secret. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned now that I’m sober, is how destructive just one secret can be. But even if I was willing, keeping this one would be impossible because not only am I her dad’s shadow for the next two months, Linnea is our district’s other new hire, which makes us coworkers.

We try to cool things down, but thanks to our crackling chemistry, that’s another impossible task, and each meetup ends with us hooking up – in my truck, my room, the barn – and too late I’m falling for this girl, consequences be damned. But there are malicious forces at work, ready to tear us apart. Forces determined to end our chance at happiness, to take our courage and love and snuff it out…for good.

My Thoughts

Love Me Wild by USA Today bestselling author Dakota Davies is the explosive, heart-pounding conclusion to the Love Me Dangerous series, and it is easily my favorite installment yet. Set in the rugged wilderness of Finn River, Idaho, this small-town romantic suspense perfectly balances high-stakes mystery with deeply emotional romance. What makes this entry particularly impressive is the way Davies expertly juggles two distinct, interconnected love stories alongside a gripping plot involving a dangerous cult, all without sacrificing character development or pacing.

The narrative follows two central couples whose lives are deeply entwined. We have CJ and Linnea—a sassy, sizzling younger couple whose chemistry is instant and undeniable. Their relationship starts with a one-night encounter that complicates their professional lives when CJ discovers that the mysterious girl from the bar is not only his new coworker but also the daughter of his grumpy mentor, Rowdy. Then there is the "later in life" romance between Rowdy and Keo, a connection that feels wonderfully realistic, grounded, and mature. Watching these four characters navigate their individual burdens and learn to lean on each other is incredibly rewarding, and the way their stories converge feels like absolute kismet.

The audiobook experience is truly extraordinary thanks to an outstanding full-cast production. Featuring narrators Laura Horowitz, Walker Williams, MK Blackwood, Gregory Salinas, Stephen Borne, and Robert Hatchet, the production brings the story to life with such depth and emotion that you will feel every moment of grief, humor, and passion. Despite the complexity of having so many voices, the cast is perfectly matched to their characters, making the eleven-hour runtime fly by. Whether it’s Gregory Salinas’s charming portrayal of CJ or Walker Williams’s growly, devoted take on Rowdy, every performance is spot-on.

Ultimately, this book is a testament to why I have been such a super-fan of this series. Davies has a unique gift for weaving suspense into the fabric of small-town life while keeping the focus on the importance of family, courage, and finding love against the odds. It is bittersweet to see this journey come to an end, but it goes out with a definitive bang that will leave you completely satisfied. If you are looking for a story that is raw, vulnerable, and absolutely wild, I cannot recommend this audiobook enough—it is a fantastic, must-listen conclusion to a series that has earned a permanent place in my heart.

Is there a particular element of the Love Me Dangerous series that you are most excited to see wrapped up in this final book?
