Narrated flawlessly by Raven Hawkins and Tristan Josiah—two new-to-me voices who absolutely excel at bringing this story to life—the audiobook captures every ounce of the characters' strong connection, top-notch banter, and intense chemistry.

Book Description

Getting drafted to a losing team was bad enough. Falling for her could end me …

I’m supposed to be the NHL’s next poster boy.

Not the guy the draft screws over.
Or the headline waiting to happen.
And definitely not the new face of the Seattle Rogues—the league’s latest expansion team, who loses on repeat.

But here I am.

Just like my Hall of Famer dad, I’ve got the talent, looks, and dedication to be the next big thing in pro hockey … but keeping my mouth shut is proving to be a problem.

Even worse, my new team has assigned a high-flying publicist to keep watch over me since I’m a loose cannon on social media and unable to hold my tongue.

Fine, babysit me. Whatever.

Then I discover the woman assigned to represent me is Drew Callaghan—aka my coach’s daughter.

I guess if they’re making me have a publicist, it makes sense for it to be her—we’ve been family friends for years, and even if my cocky attitude drives her crazy, I know our friendship will translate well to the workplace.

But my overconfidence has never been the issue. It’s the way Drew disarms me whenever I see her in a suit while she lays out a bunch of rules for me to curate the perfect public profile.

There can be zero distractions.
No scandals.
And absolutely no temptations.

While she may be meticulous in her job, Drew misses one important rule: don’t fall for your coach’s daughter.

The world knows I’m a playboy, and I’m about to break every rule in the book … along with the fraternization clause in our contracts.

I’m going to make Drew Callaghan mine.

About Ruth Stilling

Ruth Stilling is a lover of all things escapism and can be mostly found with her head buried in a spicy book, writing her latest romance novel or out in the open air and nature, away from the bustle of life. As clumsy as she is crazy, Ruth enjoys creating relatable, loveable, swoon-worthy and strong willed main characters who find their happy ending. That said, she prides herself on taking her readers on emotional rollercoasters and always recommends reading her books with tissues on hand to wipe away the tears of joy, laughter and sometimes heartache.

Ruth lives in Derbyshire, England with her own personal book boyfriend (lucky girl), her six year old son and her two feisty chihuahuas.

My Thoughts

Fair Game by Ruth Stilling is an amazing start to a new second-generation series that delivers all the addictive elements fans have come to expect from her: rich character growth, fierce family support, and the deeply moving sacrifices made in the name of love. Narrated flawlessly by Raven Hawkins and Tristan Josiah—two new-to-me voices who absolutely excel at bringing this story to life—the audiobook captures every ounce of the characters' strong connection, top-notch banter, and intense chemistry.

The story follows Will Jones, a self-assured, cocky, and wildly talented professional hockey player with a huge ego and zero shame. As the son of Hall of Famer Jensen Jones, the apple (or hockey puck) certainly didn't fall far from the tree, especially when it comes to Will's possessive nature and bad-boy persona. After getting drafted by the Seattle Rogues—the league's struggling new expansion team—Will's inability to hold his tongue on social media turns him into a PR liability. To clean up his act and curate the perfect public profile, the team assigns him a high-flying sports manager and publicist. Enter Drew Callaghan: a meticulous professional, Will's childhood friend, and crucially, the daughter of his new head coach.

While Drew is determined to maintain strict professional boundaries to protect her career, credibility, and family relationships, Will is ready to slice through every single rule and fraternization clause she puts in front of him. It takes Drew bossing him around for Will to finally realize what has been right in front of him his entire life. Once he admits his feelings, watching this ultimate playboy get brought to his knees by "the one" is incredibly satisfying. He becomes fiercely determined to prove how perfect they are together, backing up his promises by supporting and chasing after her at every turn. For her part, Drew is undeniably and irrevocably in love with Will, seeing past his cocky exterior to the real man underneath who always has her back.

Stilling brilliantly weaves the beloved first-generation characters back into the narrative, showing how core family values are seamlessly passed down to the next generation. The forbidden, high-stakes nature of their romance makes it an exciting, high-steam read that remains beautifully sweet and endearing at its core. Ruth Stilling never disappoints when it comes to well-written plots and deeply connectable characters. Fair Game isn't fair at all—because once you start reading or listening, you won’t be able to put it down.
