My Thoughts
Brandy Hynes has once again left me completely in awe with Roulette Rising. I am honestly at a loss for words trying to describe how perfect this book was; after waiting for Axel’s story since first encountering him in the KORT series, I can safely say he has claimed the title of my favorite Noire brother.
He is the undisputed king of his resort, a man who spent two decades building a haven only to have his control shattered by a stunning assassin sent to blow his kingdom apart. The dynamic between Axel and Zara is absolute fire. Axel’s patience and obsession are on another level—I was melting every time he put his glasses on to taunt her.
He was truly ready to give up everything for his "little Thorn," proving that while he may be a "lunatic" for her, he never loses his edge. Zara, on the other hand, arrives on a mission with high stakes and little information, only to find herself intoxicated by the "king of the underworld" with his sapphire eyes and overwhelming power.
As the devil's game unfolds through a spinning wheel and a one-shot chamber, she realizes that having a little fun with her mark might be her downfall. He was the bullet she never saw coming, and watching her fit so seamlessly into the Noire family was a highlight of the journey.
The plot is incredibly impressive—the tension between them sizzles as they break down each other’s walls, eventually finding a way to trust one another even when they shouldn't. Beyond the romance, the brothers' bickering and their hilarious group chat added so much personality, and Zara matched their energy perfectly.
This third installment in the Noire Brothers series is a complete, standalone story that proves why Brandy is one of my favorite authors. To top it all off, the narration by Angelina Rocca and Jason Clarke was off the charts, bringing every bit of heat and emotion to life. I’m already counting down the days until we get to dive into Cash and Jax’s books!
