My Thoughts

Whiskey Business by Willow Sanders is another fantastic addition to the Barren Hill series, delivering a sweet, high-heat romance that is nearly impossible to put down. Narrated with deep emotional resonance by Savannah Thomas and Vikas Adam, this grumpy-sunshine novella follows Jasper Raj and Remle Clay. Jasper is a former Chicago ER doctor turned bourbon distiller who moved to North Carolina seeking peace, quiet, and isolation. He is an alpha personified—enigmatic, arrogant, and perfectly content to slam the door on the world until Remle marches into his life like a persistent ray of sunshine.

Remle works for the National Bourbon Association and is determined to get Jasper’s distillery, Lakshmi Bourbon, onto the National Bourbon Trail. Her mission is complicated by a five-year-old slight from her organization, which previously claimed bourbon could only be made in Kentucky. Despite Jasper’s best efforts to ignore her—including tossing her cookie baskets to the birds—Remle is a force of nature who refuses to be deterred. The harder he pushes, the deeper she digs her heels in, sparking a cat-and-mouse game that quickly evolves from professional persistence into undeniable attraction.

The chemistry between them is electric and moves fluidly from frustration to a magnetic pull that neither can ignore. Willow Sanders has crafted a beautiful story of healing and empowerment, proving that even the most stubborn heart can be brought to its knees by the right person. It is a heartfelt, 5-star read that leaves you with a guaranteed HEA and a lingering smile.
