Do yourself a favor and get the audiobook for The Good Girl Effect by Sara Cate. This production is pure gold, featuring a brilliant duet-style multicast narration. Meg Sylvan delivers amazing French accent work, and Jason Clarke provides the perfect "growly" tone that fans of this genre will adore, all supported by an incredible cast including Brandon Francis, Samantha Brentmoor, and CJ Bloom. The full-cast experience brings so much intensity and vulnerability to the roles that I found myself emotional one moment and blushing the next.
Book Description
His praise is forbidden―his touch irresistible
Camille Aubert wasn't looking for a new job. She just wanted to return a lost love letter she'd found within the pages of a book. But when she's mistaken for a job candidate and hired as Jack's live-in nanny, something tells her this is exactly where she needs to be.
Shortly after arriving, Camille discovers a strange room in the apartment that sparks her curiosity―and hints at a dark, mysterious side to Jack that she's desperate to uncover. The lines between professional and personal blur dangerously as the heat between them becomes impossible to ignore. She's drawn to the broken man who hides his grief in ropes and bondage, and she challenges him in ways he never thought possible.
Caught between her growing feelings for Jack and the ghosts of his past, Camille must decide: can love heal a heart still grieving, or will their passion destroy them both?

While I initially went into this looking for a spicy "single dad and nanny" story set against the backdrop of a Paris sex club, what I got was a powerful, deeply moving narrative. This is a story about the heavy weight of grief and the struggle to move on. Jack St. Claire is a grieving widower burying himself in his work—running a brand-new kink club called Legacy—while trying to raise his precious daughter, Beatrice.
When Camille Aubert walks into his life to return a lost letter and is mistaken for a nanny candidate, she chooses to embrace the change her stagnant life needs. The chemistry and slow-burn angst between Jack and Camille are perfectly written. Camille is a bright star in Jack’s dark world, and watching her find her own power and strength while helping Jack heal was beautiful.
Beyond the emotional depth, Sara Cate flawlessly brings us back into the world of the Salacious Players Club through this new Legacy series. The story reflects on family, therapy-positive themes, and the distinction between physical and emotional intimacy.
Of course, the "spice" does not disappoint. The bondage and shibari rope play are intense, hot, and integrated seamlessly into their journey of trust and obsession. It’s a messy, emotional, and exquisite look at second chances that I simply could not put down. If you loved Praise, you will find that The Good Girl Effect delivers everything you want and more, culminating in a story about two people who truly deserve their "tightly bound" life full of love.
