I was so excited to return to New Orleans with the LeBlanc brothers, and Julian and Georgie’s story did not disappoint. The Charmer is a sizzling installment in Layla Hagen’s series, expertly narrated by Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder.
Book Description
Julian Leblanc's story is a sizzling fake relationship romance set in the heart of New Orleans. She’s too damn hot, but also rude and unprofessional... yet that doesn’t stop me from becoming her fake boyfriend.
First step—I invite Georgie to a Mardi Gras party, to wave the proverbial white flag. Only her asshole of an ex shows up, insulting her. All my protective instincts kick in and I kiss her on the spot. That shuts him up. The only problem is, once I have a taste, I crave more.
So I proposition to be her fake boyfriend. My excuse? I’ll help her get her clients back by taking her to elite parties around New Orleans. But this fake dating becomes addictive. Suddenly a kiss is not enough; a touch is only the beginning and Georgie is captivating me in a way no one ever did.
Then one evening at midnight, all masks come off. And so do our reasons for pretending.
I desperately want her, but I’m not the settle-down-type-of-guy, and Georgie deserves that. With her, I’ve become the man I never thought I ever could be. Our passion is real. But can it be more?

My Thoughts
I was so excited to return to New Orleans with the LeBlanc brothers, and Julian and Georgie’s story did not disappoint. The Charmer is a sizzling installment in Layla Hagen’s series, expertly narrated by Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder.
This story is a masterclass in the fake-relationship and enemies-to-lovers tropes, set against the vibrant, beautifully rendered backdrop of the French Quarter during Mardi Gras season. The imagery is incredible, making you feel like you are right there in the middle of the festivities.
The conflict kicks off when Julian, a billionaire who prides himself on his business efficiency, authorizes a change that inadvertently decimates Georgie’s family business. Georgie is a total spitfire, and I loved the scene where she storms into Julian's bar to read him the riot act.
Julian certainly wasn't expecting such a gorgeous, fierce woman to confront him. His immediate drive to make things right—shifting from a bossy billionaire into a compassionate protector—made me swoon. Their transition from enemies to fake partners happens when Julian swoops in to save Georgie from a rude encounter with her ex-boyfriend.
To help her regain her elite clientele, he proposes a fake dating arrangement, taking her to the most exclusive parties in the city. However, the line between pretending and reality blurs almost instantly. The sparks between them are a literal fire hazard, and Julian’s transition into "dirty talk mode" brings all the heat you could want in a steamy romance.
What makes this book so special is that neither Julian nor Georgie feels the need to change who they are; they simply realize they are exactly what the other needs. I loved seeing Georgie refuse to let her past heartbreak stop her from opening up to Julian, and watching Julian evolve into a man who might actually be ready to settle down was incredibly satisfying.
The emotional depth is balanced perfectly by the cheeky, feisty banter that keeps you smiling through nearly every page. The supporting cast adds so much heart and humor to the journey as well.
The LeBlanc family is as wonderful as ever, especially the meddling grandmothers with their quirky hobbies and the adorable little Bella. Checking in with Chad and Scarlett from the first book felt like a warm hug, and the buildup for the next brother, Xander, has me counting down the days for a grumpy billionaire story.
This book is sweet, sexy, and packed with feels, wrapping up with a fantastic epilogue that left me completely satisfied.
