Book Description
RILEY
My family is trying to marry me off to a monster.
A much older monster who’ll pay extra for my virginity.
There’s no way I’m going through with this so I do the only thing I can think of.
I turn to the enemy for help.
Kieran Sullivan seems to hate me for some reason.
So when his brother, Ronan, suggests a fake marriage between Kieran and I,
I’m hesitant.
But I have no other choice.
Sullivan’s need my help as much as I need theirs.
I have evidence that can help them catch their father’s killer.
Falling for Kieran is the last thing on my mind.
I don’t realize what’s happening until it’s too late.
Just when I think things couldn’t get messier,
I see those two little pink lines on the pregnancy test.
KIERAN
There’s something about Riley that I don’t trust.
She holds the key to finding out who killed my father,
information she refuses to hand over until she feels safe.
I agree to be in a fake marriage, even though I’m against it.
I thought pretending to be in love with her would be easy,
I thought there was no chance I’d develop feelings for her.
Turns out, I was wrong.
Now everything I thought I never needed is at risk of slipping away from me.

My Thoughts
Kira Cole’s Broken Lies is a fast-paced, high-stakes introduction to the second duet in the Sullivan Mafia series, and it is every bit the dark, twisted rollercoaster fans have been waiting for. The story follows Riley Walsh, a college student determined to leave her mafia upbringing behind, only to discover her family intends to sell her into an arranged marriage with a monstrous man double her age. Desperate to escape, Riley flees to the only place her family wouldn't dare look: the doorstep of their sworn enemies, the Sullivans.
She arrives with a dangerous bargaining chip—evidence regarding the murder of the Sullivan patriarch—offering the information in exchange for protection. This leads to a forced-proximity fake marriage with Kieran Sullivan, the "grumpy" second son who trusts Riley about as far as he can throw her. The tension between them is a classic enemies-to-lovers delight, simmering with a "touch-her-and-die" energy that makes the pages sizzle. Kieran is the ultimate morally grey antihero, and his internal battle against his growing feelings for the woman he’s supposed to be merely "using" is captivating.
The plot is a tantalizing blend of romantic suspense, Irish mafia politics, and non-stop twists. Just as the lines between their fake arrangement and real passion begin to blur, the stakes are raised even higher by a surprise pregnancy that threatens to upend Kieran’s structured, violent world. Cole masterfully balances extreme violence and power plays with beautiful, tender moments, ensuring there is never a dull second as the mystery of the Sullivan murder unfolds.
The audiobook experience is absolute perfection, featuring a dual-POV narration by James Cassidy and Heather Firth. Their performances bring an incredible depth to Kieran’s rugged authority and Riley’s fierce resilience, making the "grumpy x grumpier" dynamic feel authentic and urgent. Between the combustible chemistry and the pulse-pounding drama, this story keeps you transfixed from start to finish. It concludes on a mind-blowing cliffhanger that leaves you desperate for the conclusion in Bound Lies.
