My Thoughts
Swipe Right on Fate by Roxie Ray is a remarkable supernatural romance that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy in all the right ways. Beautifully narrated by Janine Granda and John William Maddux, the story follows Rowan, a vampire who never quite fit in, and Naomi, a werewolf without a wolf, as they navigate the isolating experience of being outcasts within their own communities.
Tired of settling, they both turn to a human dating app for a level playing field, only for the "ByChance" algorithm to declare them a perfect match. What follows is a beautiful journey of two "misfits" finding a home in one another, proving that love doesn’t care about social standing—it only cares about being truly seen.
The writing style feels notably more mature than many paranormal rom-coms, utilizing thoughtful phrasing and eloquent dialogue that makes it incredibly hard to put down. Rowan is particularly easy to love, winning readers over with his intelligence and sophisticated charm, while Naomi stands out as a refreshing protagonist who possesses the strength to stand up for herself rather than waiting to be saved.
Their banter is top-tier, but the true heart of the book lies in their communication. It is deeply satisfying to see a couple establish healthy boundaries with toxic people and build a relationship rooted in mutual respect and clear emotional maturity.
Beyond the central romance, the story explores the moving concept of outcasts creating a space where they can finally belong. Watching Rowan and Naomi decide to help other misfits find their own happiness and confidence adds a layer of depth that elevates the book beyond a simple "fated mates" trope.
While the supporting characters like Caroline and Iko are so intriguing that you'll find yourself wishing for even more insight into their lives, the story as it stands is a perfect blend of cozy chaos and heartfelt chemistry. Whether you are a longtime fan of Roxie Ray or a newcomer looking for a well-crafted vampire and shifter story, this book is a must-read
