Narrated with incredible skill by CJ Bloom and Marcio Catalano, the story of Blake Grayson and Rebecca is a five-star rollercoaster that balances heart-wrenching angst with tear-staining laughter.
The foundation of this story is a deeply wholesome friendship. Blake, a doctor and the neighborhood’s resident "king of red flags," has had a crush on Rebecca since the day they met, even though she was married at the time.
Now that Rebecca is separated, she is determined to navigate her second chance at happiness by her own rules. She enlists Blake, the ultimate player, to help her create a master list of dating dos and don’ts. What follows is a captivating game of midnight ice cream and intoxicating charm that makes it impossible for Rebecca—and the reader—not to fall for Blake’s addictive personality.
Unlike a typical "boy meets girl" romance, this journey is filled with unpredictable twists and turns. Watching Blake and Rebecca evolve from friends with secret crushes to a couple facing intense hardships was a deeply emotive experience.
While Rebecca’s pain occasionally makes her a frustrating character, her growth and vulnerability are handled with such realism that you can't help but root for her. The supporting cast of friends from Kingston Lane adds so much depth, making the entire neighborhood feel perfectly real and intertwined. While some might find the angst heavy, the payoff in the final chapters is incredibly satisfying and makes every moment of heartache worth it.
T.L. Swan truly knows how to keep a reader invested, delivering a story about love, forgiveness, and self-discovery that is nearly impossible to put down.
