Home Is Where You Are by Harper Faith is a beautifully written second-chance romance that hits you straight in the heart. The first half of the story is emotionally taxing—as any truly good book should be—painting a poignant, often haunting picture of love lost and the heavy toll of tragedy.
Book Description
Gentry Parkhurst had been my everything—until I broke his heart.
I ran as far away as I could.
Four years had passed before I set foot back in the small town of Haven Valley, convinced I’d left my past—and Gentry—behind for good. Imagine my shock when he’d been the one waiting at the airport, demanding I get in his truck so he could take me home.
I’d expected hatred.
I’d braced for indifference.
I hadn’t expected to find Gentry living and working on my family’s ranch, sleeping in my sanctuary, occupying every space I’d tried to forget.
No matter how hard I’d tried to keep my distance, we were consistently thrown together. Old wounds reopened. Buried feelings refused to stay buried. With every stolen glance and lingering touch, the truth became impossible to ignore.
We’d never stopped loving each other.
But some heartbreak changes you forever.

My Thoughts
The story follows the internal struggle of returning to Haven Valley after four years away. Gentry Parkhurst was once everything—the brother’s best friend who offered a devotion that felt unbreakable until the world shattered. In the wake of that pain, running away seemed like the only option, but returning home reveals that the past isn't as far behind as it seemed. Finding Gentry not only waiting at the airport but living and working on the family ranch forces a confrontation with every buried feeling and old wound.
As the narrative progresses, it transforms into an endearing "dance of two hearts" searching for their rainbow. While the journey from hopeful to painful is an emotional jolt to the soul, the addition of the protective brothers adds a wonderful layer of joy to the reading experience. Watching these two broken people navigate their way back to one another is both lovely and fitting. Ultimately, this book is a wonderful emotional ride that proves some heartbreaks change you forever, but love has a way of sneaking up on your blind side just when you need it most.
