Fletcher was the boy who stole Laney’s heart at fifteen—her brother’s best friend who went on to become a famous NFL star. After a devastating misunderstanding tore them apart twelve years ago, they are finally forced to face their past when they are cast as the maid of honor and best man for a mutual friend’s wedding in their hometown of Blossom Peak.
The story masterfully utilizes a dual timeline, allowing us to witness the sweet, genuine bond they shared as teenagers. It’s heartwarming to see how Laney became a safe haven for Fletcher during his difficult upbringing, making their present-day reunion even more poignant. Despite Laney’s best efforts to avoid him over the years, Fletcher returns with a mission to prove he still cares.
From supporting her salon to participating in yoga at her family’s winery, his devotion is undeniable. He is incredibly thoughtful and protective, especially regarding Laney’s type 1 diabetes; his gesture of monitoring her glucose levels is the perfect mix of overbearing and swoon-worthy.

Teddy Hamilton provides a performance as Fletcher that is simply magnetic—there is something about his tone that perfectly embodies a protective, famous athlete with a soft heart. Their performances elevated an already fantastic book into an unforgettable listening experience. I cannot wait to see where Harlow James takes this series next!
