Book Description
Fact or fiction: becoming a lumberjack and marrying your best friend so she can inherit her family business is a great idea.
When Addison “Roe” Monroe tells me she’s going on a husband hunt at the local lumberjack competition so she can inherit her father’s lumberyard, I think she has finally lost her mind.
But my stubborn friend, who would rather drive a forklift than get her nails done, refused my first marriage offer. And since I can’t stomach watching Roe hitch her wagon to some hulking ax wielder who might be a serial killer, I decide that desperate times require desperate measures.
Call me Lumberjack Luke.
I’ll do whatever it takes to get her to accept my proposal because she’s more than just a friend. And the way she looks back at me? I think she knows it.
On the surface, I’m offering a marriage of convenience to protect her. But the truth is…I’m hopelessly in love with my best friend.
Marrying her and moving her up to Fletcher Mountain might mean I’ve lost my mind too, but so be it.
Because the only thing I would regret more, is never trying.

My Thoughts
Honeymoon Phase is easily my favorite installment in the Mountain Men series, a fantastic friends-to-lovers story written by Amy Daws and flawlessly narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon, who deliver heartfelt and powerful dual performances that had me laughing one minute and crying the next.
When Addison "Roe" Monroe announces her plan to go on a husband hunt at the local lumberjack competition just so she can inherit her father’s lumberyard, her best friend, Luke, thinks she has finally lost her mind. Roe, a stubborn tomboy who’d rather drive a forklift than get her nails done, is carrying a lot of unresolved grief. Her need for a husband arises from the terms of her inheritance, but she initially refuses Luke’s marriage offer. Since Luke can't stomach the thought of Roe hitching her wagon to some hulking ax-wielder who might be a serial killer, he decides desperate times require desperate measures. He steps in as "Lumberjack Luke" and offers a marriage of convenience to protect her, determined to do whatever it takes to get her to accept his proposal because she is more than just a friend. The truth is, Luke is hopelessly in love with his best friend.
Luke has always harbored feelings for Roe, and Marrying her and moving her up to Fletcher Mountain, even though it might mean he’s lost his mind, is a risk he's willing to take, because the only thing he would regret more is never trying. The tension builds throughout the book as they settle into life together and plan a winter wedding, with Luke's affection only deepening as he begins to suspect Roe may feel the same. I loved the dynamics between Luke and Roe, especially Luke's complete devotion to her, regardless of her grumpiness and constant habit of pushing him away. I especially appreciated that Roe is not your typical petite or overtly feminine romance heroine; she is stocky, strong, and works with her hands, making her fierce determination and vulnerability feel incredibly authentic.
Watching these two characters work through their hurt and grief to heal and finally realize how good they are together, and how deeply they love each other, was so good. Amy Daws has once again created a wonderful story that took me on an emotional rollercoaster, making me laugh, cry, and even shout out loud for the characters to see what was obvious. The superb dual narration by Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon truly brought life to the author's words and took this fantastic romance to a whole new level. While the Mountain Men may have all found love, I enjoyed seeing the progression of the relationships of characters from previous books, and the series isn't over yet, as I'm excited for Everly's story in the next installment.
