I absolutely love Make Me by Adriana Locke! Narrated brilliantly by Sadie Provost and Scott Rose, this book made me feel so much and so hard. I’ve been looking forward to Hartley’s story ever since Play Me, and let me tell you—I think this is easily my favorite book in the series!

I absolutely love Make Me by Adriana Locke! Narrated brilliantly by Sadie Provost and Scott Rose, this book made me feel so much and so hard. I’ve been looking forward to Hartley’s story ever since Play Me, and let me tell you—I think this is easily my favorite book in the series!
Who doesn’t love a lonely, heartbroken rancher? Hartley completely stole my heart. He and Mira have been in love ever since they were kids, sharing a complicated history where Mira wasn't originally able to fully open her heart. After losing her parents, Mira became a rolling stone, leaving Sugar Creek to find solace in new places and adventures, figuring if she never stopped, her past couldn’t catch up to her. On the other hand, when Hartley lost his parents, he stayed behind to take over his dad’s ranch, determined to make him proud. Hartley will never leave Sugar Creek, and Mira swore she would never stay—so they definitely couldn't be together.
Until grandma pops up with a plan, that is! Imagine hating being told what to do, only for your grandmother to call you back to Sugar Creek and casually inform you that she’s leaving you your childhood farmhouse and a sizable inheritance with one tiny catch: you must prove you can put down roots by marrying Hartley Adler. To keep the property from developers, these two great friends who secretly want to be together are forced into a fake marriage.
I don’t think I've ever read the fake marriage trope with an MMC who is so completely down for the FMC. It was so romantic seeing how crazy he was for her, and the best part is that the whole town knew it! While Mira loved him for sure, she was a little more of a mystery as she leaned on and cared for him, making their journey to a real second (or third, fourth, or fifth!) chance at love utterly gripping.
The story does a wonderful job showing how different people deal with loss in their own way, proving there is no single right path and that it is okay to want to live your life. Lolly is the absolute best—the perfect matriarch who is wise enough to give Mira room to breathe, but also knows when to bring her home with a little ultimatum. And what kind of review would this be without mentioning the cutest character of them all, Pigasso Pigglesworth, who adds so much charm to the story?
Alongside the adorable pig, the amazing and hilarious cast from the previous novels—including Gianna, Audrey, and Astrid—show up in spades, giving Mira a tight-knit friend group she can lean on. Adriana Locke balances these deeper emotional moments beautifully with humor, warmth, and an undeniable chemistry that leaves you smiling long after you finish. Both narrators were new to me, but Sadie Provost and Scott Rose did a fabulous job with voices that fit the characters to a T. If you enjoy second-chance romance, small-town charm, lovable characters, and a story full of heart, this is definitely one you need to pick up!
