Book Description

Lane “Gavin” Knight is the hottest new defenseman for the LA Champions hockey team.
He’s my cousin Maverick’s best friend, and by trick of fate, my new roommate. But just because he caught me when I fell off the “Welcome Back” parade float in my International Princess crown doesn’t mean he’s a hero I know him better than that.

Hayden “Haddy” Bradford is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.
She’s a princess, a brilliant scientist… And she hates me.
Until a purple-drink-fueled Halloween hook-up changes both of our lives.
It’s something I’ve wanted a long time, but I never dreamed I’d have it with her.
Still, I’m the master of high-risk, high-reward plays, and I’ll do what it takes to show her I’m not the man she thinks I am.

I’m there for her every step of the way, supporting, holding her hand, doing my best to show her my true self.
I told her I’d catch her when she falls, but no one is catching me—and I’m falling fast.

I’m headed straight into the offensive zone. Everything I want is at stake, but I’m committed to this puck battle, and I intend to win.

My Thoughts

Pinch by Tia Louise, the dynamic kickoff to The New Bradfords second-generation series, is a fantastic, sweet, and sexy hockey romance, brilliantly brought to life by the duet narration of Ryan Dunlap and Willa Jaymes.

The story centers on Lane "Gavin" Knight, the hot new defenseman for the LA Champions hockey team, and Hayden "Haddy" Bradford, a brilliant scientist and pageant princess who also happens to be his new, reluctant roommate. They have a rocky history: Haddy is fiercely loyal to her college best friend, Gavin's ex, and she holds a strong, negative opinion of him, convinced he did something awful in the past.

By a trick of fate—an error left him without a place, forcing him to crash with his best friend and teammate Maverick, who lives with his cousins Haddy and Gigi—Gavin moves in. Even amidst Haddy's constant bickering and loathing, the chemistry between them is immediately apparent, much to Haddy's self-loathing exasperation over how affected she is by him.

The situation explodes during a purple-drink-fueled Halloween hook-up that changes both their lives. Though Haddy tried to deny the attraction, it’s something Gavin has wanted for a long time. He knows Haddy is the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen—a princess and a scientist—and he commits to showing her he's not the man she thinks he is.

What follows is a delightful exploration of their new, sincere connection. I loved the lack of miscommunication; they are consistently straight-forward with each other, even amidst the tension. Haddy is built as a strong, determined woman, but the narrative tenderly shows her delicate, vulnerable side. The surprise element of the story adds a sweet, new layer, and Gavin completely steps up to become the man Haddy can depend on. The big family dynamic of both the Bradfords and the Knights, along with the fun "gang vibes" and appearances from past characters, makes this a captivating start to a new world. The narration adds depth and emotion, drawing listeners completely into this lovely story.
