Book Description

I would follow him anywhere…

Ellie Bradford

I couldn’t tell you when I fell in love with Owen Harper. I just always was. And still am. He was my first everything—first love, first kiss and the only man that has left an indelible mark on my soul. I never thought that I’d call him anything but mine. But that was the thing about first loves. They weren’t made to last. Owen was destined for greatness, and I couldn’t be the one to stand in his way. So I broke both our hearts, and walked away. But after a heated reunion, I knew I’d made a mistake all those years ago and would do anything to start over — even move to a brand new city all by myself to win back my forever love.

Owen Harper

Ellie Bradford is the only woman I’ve ever loved—and the one who shattered my heart. The day she left me, I didn’t just lose the love of my life—I lost my best friend, too.

Five years later, I’m home at the end of hockey season and I see her again. One thing leads to another and our “one last night” together doesn’t go as planned. My feelings for her never left, but I realize closure just isn’t in the cards for us. One night would never be enough for us, but she wasn’t mine anymore. Then she showed up in Seattle, in the stands at my hockey game. Despite my intentions to move on, I offer her my spare bedroom when her new apartment floods. Even though I knew I should have been attempting to move on, it was hard not to feel like we were finally getting our second chance. I just hoped that this time, she would stay. For me and for us.

My Thoughts

Oh wow, Uniquely in Love is a sweet and spicy second-chance sports romance that absolutely hits the mark! Written by Jennifer Chipman and brought to life with incredible charm by narrators Summer Morton and Ash Beverly, this audiobook is a fantastic find for anyone who loves an angsty former couple fighting for their forever.

This book centers on Ellie Bradford and Owen Harper, a couple with an origin story that began as childhood friends and evolved into high school sweethearts. Owen, an NHL defenseman, has always felt Ellie was his it girl, but five years ago, she broke both their hearts and walked away to keep him from sacrificing his dreams. Fast-forward five years: After a surprise, heated reunion, Ellie realizes she made the biggest mistake of her life. In a bold move, she relocates to Seattle to win back her "forever love."

What follows is a deliciously torturous period of chasing and tiptoeing around their still-sizzling feelings. When disaster strikes her apartment, Owen—terrified of opening up but unable to stay away—offers her his spare room. The tension during their "just friends" phase is the absolute best! You get all the possessive "You are mine" vibes from Owen, mixed with the "are you feeling this too?" uncertainty that makes the payoff so sweet. It's a fun dynamic watching an NHL player try to move on while his ex-girlfriend is right there, wearing his jersey, and making him question every decision he’s ever made. I adored that this wasn't just about the hero winning the girl back—Ellie makes the big, brave move to chase her man, and Owen's boy obsessed nature, even when he's trying to be aloof, is swoon-worthy. The execution of the Second Chance and Sibling's Best Friend tropes is perfect, and once they get past their fear of rejection, their connection is incredibly good and feels earned after all the tension. The performance by Summer Morton and Ash Beverly was exceptional, bringing so much emotion and humor to the story, making it a truly wonderful and seamless listen!

Uniquely in Love is an easy, enjoyable hockey romance read that fully delivered on its promise! The strong characters, excellent narration, and perfect blend of angst and sweetness make this a must-listen.
