Piper Lawson continues the addictive story of Miles and Brooke in Hard to Take, the phenomenal second installment of the Denver Kodiaks series. It is essential to read the first book, Hard to Fake, as this story picks up immediately after its major cliffhanger and concludes with another one that will leave you desperate for the final book. Brought to life by the fantastic narration duo of Simone Lewis and Tim Paige, this audiobook is packed with the tension, banter, and swoon-worthy spice that fans of the series love.
The story finds Miles and Brooke trying to navigate their relationship after he left unexpectedly. Attempting to go back to being just friends proves impossible when circumstances lead to them becoming roommates. Brooke hopes the forced proximity will finally get the pro-basketball star out of her system, but sharing a home—and a cute dog named Waffles—only amplifies their undeniable chemistry. Their relationship soon reignites, this time with deeper feelings, forcing them to keep their love a secret from friends, and especially from Brooke's protective older brother, Jay, who is also Miles's teammate.
The stakes are higher than ever as both characters face pivotal moments in their careers. If you're looking for a sports romance with the perfect blend of forced proximity, a forbidden brother's-best-friend dynamic, and incredible heat, this series is a must-read. I cannot wait for the final installment!
