My Thoughts
"Sketch" is a new movie about a young girl whose drawings come to life after her sketchbook falls into a strange pond. The creatures she drew are wild and cause a lot of trouble in her town. She and her brother have to team up to catch them all. Their dad, played by Tony Hale, is also trying to find them and stop the mess they accidentally started.
The movie is fun, but the script could be better. The director, Seth Worley, is good with special effects, and it really shows. The animated creatures look great, even though the movie didn't have a huge budget. They are the best part of the film.
Tony Hale is also very good in his role as the sad single father. He brings a lot of heart to the movie.
The film has a good message about dealing with tough feelings. It’s not afraid to be a little scary, which is like older family movies.
The biggest problem is the script. There are too many jokes, and it can get tiring. Some jokes are repeated too often..
Overall, "Sketch" is a fun movie that feels like family adventures from the 80s and 90s. It’s a promising first film for the director, but it has some notable flaws.
Sounds like a gentle film, which won’t get much footfall in the cinema which is why it’s a summer release. I haven’t seen any promos for this as the basic storyline sounds great and so different from the marvel / super hero films that are dominating the screens
