When a chance encounter sparks an unlikely bond between rival murderers Sloane and Rowan, they find something elusive—the friendship of two like-minded, pitch-black souls who just happen to enjoy killing other serial killers.
But as their friendship develops into something more, the restless ghosts left in their wake are only a few steps behind, ready to claim more than just their newfound love.
Can Rowan and Sloane dig themselves out of a game of graves?
Or have they finally met their match?
Writing has always been a hobby for Brynne. Even as a young child, she loved typing out stories on her grandmother’s typewriter. She wrote award-winning poetry and essays, and dabbled in various forms of fiction over the years. In 2019, Brynne committed to publishing more of her works, and released her first non-fiction book (under her real name!). She then began focusing on her first fantasy-romance (or ‘romantasy’) series, The Diviner. Next up was the three-part Shadow Realm paranormal dark romance series. Brynne then partnered with author Alexa Harlowe on the contemporary dark standalone romance, Black Sheep.
Brynne aspires to write female-focused stories about complex, resilient, imperfect characters who struggle with anger, trauma, fear, courage, and love.
Sloane AKA The Blackbird isn't sure what to think of Rowan when he rescues her. She thinks he is just a pretty face and yet she feels a pull to him. When he presents her with the idea of a game of catching serial killers Sloane is all in. However, with each year they meet up and slay another serial killer the more Sloane finds it harder to leave Rowan behind. Sloane finds herself falling for Rowan but can he love her or will her damaged heart be too much? Sloane wants to take a chance with Rowan he is everything she wants but she is afraid of being left behind or worse finding out she is truly unlovable.
This book may have had a dark theme I mean serial killers killing serial killers but it was also super sweet. There were so many laugh-out-loud moments like the Ozo pasta reference or when Butcher's nickname came to light. I loved this book and the chemistry between Butcher and Blackbird was undeniable. Even though they were both broken and flawed they were perfect for each other.
This book had everything I could hope for: murder, action, love, laughter, and spice. It was the perfect read, and I am so happy I took a moment to devour it.
Or have they finally met their match?
