I am so excited to be heading to Nanantuckett in this book and reuniting with the Montgomery/Taggert family.

Book Description

Just as Alix Madsen is finishing up architectural school, Adelaide Kingsley dies and wills her, for one year, the use of a charming nineteenth-century Nantucket house. The elderly woman’s relationship to the Madsen family is a mystery to the spirited Alix—fresh from a romantic breakup—but for reasons of her own Alix accepts the quirky bequest, in part because it gives her time to plan her best friend’s storybook wedding.

But unseen forces move behind the scenes, creaking Kingsley House’s ancient floorboards. It seems that Adelaide Kingsley had a rather specific task for Alix: to solve the strange disappearance of one of the Kingsley women, Valentina, more than two hundred years ago. If that wasn’t troubling enough, Alix must deal with the arrogant (and extremely good-looking) architect Jared Montgomery, who is living in the property’s guesthouse.

Unbeknown to Alix, Jared has been charged with looking after her while she lives on the island—an easy task for him, considering the undeniable chemistry between the two. But Jared harbors secrets of his own, which, if revealed, may drive a wedge between the pair.

With a glorious Nantucket wedding on the horizon, sparks fly, and the ghosts of the past begin to reveal themselves—some of them literally. Finding their lives inextricably entwined with the turbulent fortunes of their ancestors, Alix and Jared discover that only by righting the wrongs of the past can they hope to be together.

My Thoughts

I was so excited to start this book. Not only do I love Jude's writing but I love the characters and the stories she creates

With this book, I got to fly to the island of Nantucket where I was reunited with the Montgomery family and meet the Kingsley family.

Alix Madsen is a brilliant architecture student. Raised by her mother a famous author and adored by her father whose talent she has inherited Alix is a product of both these amazing people. When an old family friend passes away Alix is asked to live in an old house on Nantucket for a year. The will states she is to find out what happened to a long-dead family member but what she encounters are family secrets of her own. She also encounters the great Jared Montogermery.

Jared Montgomery Kingsley is a great architect. Taught by Ali's father Ken Jared has made a name for himself. When his auny dies he learns she has willed his house to the young Alix for a year. Anxious to escape her for fear she will only want to harass him with questions he is soon charged with looking after her. What he discovers is a woman who is not only talented but also beautiful and not afraid to tell him exactly what she thinks of him and his work.

I loved watching Alix and Jared become friends and fall in love. Their connection was so deep. I love Jared was a good guy and adored Alix and I loved that though Alix was first in awe of Jared she soon learned to tell him her thoughts and put him in his place.

This story had so many different levels. It had ghosts, family secrets, a beautiful setting, and most of all love. It had love from family, friends, and lovers. This story kept me captivated from page one to the end. The setting was beautiful. the story had depth, it had characters I loved and it had secrets I wanted to discover.

It also was a story that reunited me with my favorite family the Montogery/Taggert. Juse once again swept me up into a story that left me in awe. She created a world I wanted more of and wanted to return to over and over.
