About H.J. Ramsay

H.J. Ramsay has loved fantasy ever since she was a child. Growing up, she was influenced by movies like Legend, The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth as well as books and short stories, such as The Collected Works of Brothers Grimm. She is drawn to fantasy with a darker side to its glittery world and the idea that things are never what they seem. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University, Los Angeles and teaches writing classes at her local community college. Ever Alice is her first published novel.

My Thoughts

I have to say I was excited to read this book. As a Disney travel agent and a fan of all things Disney, this book spoke to me. Growing up Alice was someone I could relate to. As a child, I devour the books by Lewis Carroll. Then I fell in love with Disney's version of the book only to be even more obsessed when Johnny Depp stepped into the role of Mad Matter. 

So it was no surprise to anyone who knows me that when I discovered the book Ever Alice by H.J. I would grab a copy. 

I can honestly say it was everything I had hoped for and more. 

I don't want to classify it as a retelling of the original story but more of a sequel if you will.  It takes place several years later and Alice has been labeled insane for her stories of the White Rabbit and Wonderland. Even so, she follows the White Rabbit once again down the rabbit hole. 

We are once again swept into this imaginative world that was originally created by Lewis Carroll but that H. J. has reimagined. We have all the major players the Queen of Hearts, White Rabbit, Alice, and my favorite The Cheshire Cat. 

I was completely captivated by this book. I felt myself being swept down the rabbit hole and the author did a wonderful job keeping me engaged. I felt like I was walking with Alic through this story.

I must say this is a book I can see myself reading again and again through theyears. It spoke to my inner Alice and brought a little magic to my day.
