Book Description
Lyric
He promised me forever when we were teenagers.
Months later he leaves me without a care in the world.
One week during senior year was all it took for Colt Street to decide I was no longer what he wanted. Then, just like his brother, Colt took off for the military, leaving the life we longed for, behind.
Ten years later he’s back, changed, and ready to protect me with his life. When I asked for help from the local MC, a favor that was owed, I never thought the Rebels would send my ex-boyfriend as a bodyguard. The second his dark eyes find me, scared and hiding in my closet, those old sparks ignite. Except I’m not the girl he left behind. We’re both not who we once were... and I don’t know if we ever will be.
Colt
Running into Lyric Taylor again was a stroke of luck, a second chance at fate. It also brought back the reality of the situation I put us in all those years ago when we were kids.
I left when my world came crashing down. Instead of letting her know what was going on, I chose to run, and leave her behind, breaking both of our hearts in the worst way possible.
This time I won’t make the same mistake. When my club president asks for help protecting Lyric, I volunteer. When I find her, hiding and scared, I vow to fix everything from our past and earn her trust again. Only she’s different. Lyric isn’t the same girl I left behind. Too bad for her, the woman she is now is everything I crave.
She’s guarded.
I’m broken.
Danger is waiting to tear us apart, and I’m ready to put my life on the line.
Whether she accepts it or not, I will always be her warrior.
*This novel was previously released as part of Corinne Michael's, The Salvation Society, and has since undergone major edits and changes to set it apart from the original world it took place in. My Thoughts
Warrior (Rebels of the Undead MC, Book 1) by Ashton Brooks—brought to life through an emotionally charged dual narration by Allie Piper and Scott Rose—is a gripping, high-stakes contemporary romance that expertly blends second-chance romance, heavy emotional angst, and motorcycle club danger.
The story centers on Lyric and Colt, who first met as ten-year-olds and grew up as inseparable best friends before transitioning into a deep teenage romance filled with promises of forever. But their world shatters abruptly when eighteen-year-old Colt suddenly changes his mind about his future, abruptly breaking Lyric's heart and leaving town for the military without an explanation, leaving her to pick up the pieces and alter her life's path.
Ten years later, Colt returns as a changed, battle-hardened man carrying the heavy weight of his past losses and deep, lingering regret. When Lyric finds herself in sudden danger and asks for a favor owed by the local Rebels Motorcycle Club, she never expects the club to send her estranged ex-boyfriend as her bodyguard. Finding her hiding and terrified in her closet, Colt vows to protect her with his life and finally earn back her trust.
What makes the dynamic so compelling is that Lyric refuses to play the victim or act like a doormat; she is a strong, resilient woman who makes Colt work hard for her forgiveness and refuses to let him know how deeply he still affects her. Meanwhile, through an effective dual point-of-view, readers see that while Colt made devastating, bone-headed mistakes driven by tragedy and the belief that he was protecting her, his remorse is absolute, and he is fiercely determined to win her back by any means necessary.
Enhanced by Allie Piper and Scott Rose’s brilliant vocal performances, which capture every ounce of pain, longing, and chemistry, Warrior is a fast-paced, emotionally intense page-turner. Packed with simmering tension, a thrilling dash of club danger, and a deeply satisfying reconciliation, it is an unforgettable start to a gritty new romance series.
