My Thoughts
Illusive by Sylvia Day—with an incredible multi-narrator audio performance by Nick Mondelli, Ava Lucas, Jill Redfield, and Jeremy York—is a thrilling, action-packed, and emotionally charged continuation of the Crossfire Saga spinoff that keeps readers completely on the edge of their seats.
Picking up directly where the first book left off, the story plunges back into the complex, high-stakes world of Ronan Boudreaux and Ireland Vidal. Bayou-born Ronan spent his brutal childhood fighting for survival to protect his siblings, a dark path that eventually led him to the father he never knew and a generations-old betrayal demanding ultimate vengeance. Arriving in New York to orchestrate the downfall of his enemy, Chris Vidal, Sr., Ronan plans for every possible obstacle—except for Ireland, his enemy's captivating, fierce daughter. Ireland’s wild spirit and resilience ignite an undeniable hunger in Ronan, forcing him to choose between balancing the scales of justice and pursuing a once-in-a-lifetime woman, all while contending with her fiercely protective older brother, Gideon Cross.
Following a devastating kidnapping plot that leaves Ireland fighting desperately for her survival and escape, the narrative explodes with high-octane suspense, angst, heartbreak, and profound resilience. The emotional core of the novel is brilliantly anchored by the frantic, unified efforts of Ronan and Gideon—kept grounded by Eva and Elizabeth—as they move mountains to save Ireland. Sylvia Day's sophisticated, flawless prose and sharp dialogue paint an indelible, cinematic picture of intense rivalries, deep-seated family loyalties, and a powerful, magnetic love story between Ronan and Ireland that cannot be denied, despite the toxic family legacy standing in their way. Reintroducing beloved familiar faces from the Crossroads and Crossfire series while delivering provocative, smexy romance, breathtaking character growth, and a massive, heart-stopping cliffhanger, Illusive leaves readers craving the final installment.
