The story follows Ember Harper, an event planner who arrives in Peachwood Grove for a much-needed escape, only to have her plans derailed by a rainstorm, a deer in the road, and an accident that lands her directly in the arms of Captain Ryan McCallister. As the local fire captain, Ryan has handled plenty of emergencies, but none of them look quite like Ember. When her hotel subsequently floods, Ryan steps in and has her move into his spare room, kicking off an irresistible forced-proximity dynamic.
While Ember carries heavy baggage from her past and struggles with trust, Ryan proves to be the ultimate protective, he-falls-first hero who is ready to catch her. Blending cozy small-town charm, a delightful found-family dynamic, and just the right amount of heat, the narrative delivers a comforting, low-angst escape.
