Book Description

I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life. Screwed up a career in the military, went to jail. Got some bad tattooes. But coming home to Dragonfly Creek and opening a garage wasn’t one of them, because now I get to watch Haven Bingham go to work at the library across the street every morning.

And in the summer, she wears sundresses that would bring me to my knees if she gave me half a chance.

Which she wouldn’t…

Until she has to.

Until she needs a fake boyfriend—or a bodyguard. Or both.

About Zoe York

Zoe York writes sexy small town romances, drawing inspiration from where she grew up just south of the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario. Since 2013, she's self-published 100 books between three pen names: she also writes spicy romance about the rich and powerful as Ainsley Booth (including sports romance), and escapist, smutty fluff as Chloe Maine. When she's not writing, she loves to travel with her husband and two sons, and her phone has nine different reading apps on it, because the dishes can wait, but the happy ever afters cannot.

My Thoughts

Lucky Haven by Zoe York is a gripping small-town romantic suspense novel brought brilliantly to life through the stellar narration of June deBorahae and Lance Greenfield.

The story follows Haven Bingham, who returns to her hometown of Dragonfly Creek to start fresh as the local librarian. Having previously fled town after a predatory youth pastor tried to groom her—and faced severe backlash and rumors from a judgmental church community that protected him, including her uncle—Haven is ready to face her past. When the harassment escalates into nasty emails, threatening notes, and intimidation, she runs across the street to the local auto shop and impulsively kisses Cash Kincaid in front of everyone.

Cash, an ex-con and tattooed mechanic who went to prison for mistakes in his past, has secretly carried a torch for Haven for years. Knowing firsthand what she went through and believing she is far too good for him, he seizes the opportunity to step in as her fake boyfriend and bodyguard. As they enter into forced proximity—sharing a bed and locking down protective routines to keep her safe—their fake relationship quickly blurs into deep, undeniable feelings. Cash transforms into the ultimate fierce protector with a sweet, teddy-bear heart beneath his rough exterior, while Haven finds the courage to shed her buttoned-up, church-raised shell.

Elevated by June deBorahae’s nuanced voicing of Haven's resilience and Lance Greenfield’s phenomenal portrayal of Cash’s protective, bad-boy swoon, the audiobook delivers incredible chemistry and lived-in intimacy. Complete with an engaging mystery full of twists as they try to unmask their harasser, a classic good-girl-meets-bad-boy dynamic, and the wonderful protective energy of the Kincaid family, this suspenseful and emotionally satisfying romance is an absolute must-listen.
