Laiken is my brother’s teammate.
My new boss.
A guarded NHL goalie and devoted single dad already fighting a custody battle.

Especially when he starts caring for me in ways no one else ever has.
I’m carrying another man’s baby.
He’s the last person I should fall for.

My Thoughts
Promise Me This by Jennifer Sucevic is a beautiful, emotionally healing pro-hockey romance that completely captivates from the very first page. As the fourth installment in the beloved Chicago Railers series, this standalone story expertly blends the single dad, nanny, and marriage-of-convenience tropes into a heartwarming, slow-burn journey packed with depth, spice, and swoon-worthy moments.
The story follows Kia, who has dropped out of college and moved in with her brother, Oliver. She is secretly pregnant and trying to navigate her own vulnerabilities when she volunteers to step in as a live-in nanny for her brother's teammate, Laiken Lennox. Laiken is a guarded NHL goalie, a devoted single dad fiercely navigating a custody battle for his daughter, Elody. While they are both fighting their own private battles, living under the same roof quickly blurs every line. When Laiken discovers Kia's secret, rather than stepping back, his protective instincts kick in and he proposes a marriage of convenience to help raise the baby as his own.
Jennifer Sucevic excels at creating characters with genuine depth who communicate through their challenges instead of running away. Watching Kia and Laiken draw together in such a sweet, gentle way is absolute perfection, and the hot, heavy chemistry between them is next level. It is incredibly precious to watch Kia bond with little Elody, and Laiken’s unwavering devotion to his family is guaranteed to make readers swoon.
The audio production elevates this phenomenal story even further with a spectacular duet narration by Savannah Peachwood and J.F. Harding. Peachwood is magnificent as the sweet, caring, and resilient Kia, beautifully capturing all of her hurt, uncertainty, and ultimate strength, while also delivering a brilliant performance as Elody. Harding is equally superb as the charming and fiercely protective Laiken, bringing a deep, sultry, and divine tone to a man who shows Kia what it truly means to be loved and cherished. Packed with intense emotion and grown-up love, this fabulous audiobook is highly recommended for anyone looking for a powerful, comforting, and fiercely romantic escape.
