What an absolutely delightful romance! All I Need, the fabulous first installment of "The Everything Legacy" series by A.K. Evans, is a well-written, heartwarming romantic suspense set in the wild and beautiful small town of Rising Sun, Wyoming. Marking a wonderful introduction to the author's expansive world, this story instantly captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings. Even for those completely new to the world of Rising Sun and unfamiliar with the previous generation of characters, the narrative is so flawlessly crafted that you never feel lost or as though you are missing context. Instead, the fantastic world-building, exceptional plot, and deep character development pull you into an emotional rollercoaster ride that you won't want to leave.
The story follows Taj Blackman and Olivia Thomas, and everything about their journey—from their unconventional first meeting to watching their relationship grow into a deep, slow-burn romance—is pure magic. Taj knows a thing or two about responsibility; as a loving son, devoted brother, and the workaholic new CEO of Blackman Boards, he intends to carry on the multi-million-dollar legacy his father built from the ground up with absolute dignity. But it is that exact protective mindset that leaves him unable to neglect the duty he feels when he spots a mysterious woman standing out in the freezing winter cold, staring at the Christmas tree in the town center, wearing nothing but a wedding dress.
That woman is Olivia Thomas, a well-known supermodel who has just become a runaway bride, hopping into her car with no destination in mind just to escape a terrible situation. Desperate for a breather, she winds up charmed by the small-town festivities of Rising Sun. When Taj approaches her to make sure she is okay, Olivia gives him a fake name, hiding the fact that she just left her fiancé at the altar. Though Taj instantly senses that something is wrong, he refuses to push, offering unconditional kindness and a safe place to land instead. While Olivia initially has no plans to stay in town for long, Taj’s gentle demeanor and determination to help her quickly change her mind.
Watching these two interact is simply wonderful, providing a perfect balance of drama, angst, and heartfelt emotion. Olivia gives Taj a much-needed reason to step away from the family business and be something besides a workaholic, while Taj gives Olivia the safety and space to finally make her own life choices. He treats this new responsibility as something far more valuable than money could ever buy, slowly chipping away at her insecurities and winning her heart.
The outstanding story is elevated to another level by the phenomenal audiobook narration of CJ Mission and Kit Swann. Both versatile voice artists do a fantastic job bringing these multi-layered characters to life, setting an ideal tone with an incredibly expressive delivery. Kit Swann is a natural in Olivia’s role, perfectly grasping every facet of her personality from her doubts to her inner strength, while delivering fantastic secondary and male voices. CJ Mission shines just as brightly as Taj, flawlessly capturing his protective traits, work ethic, and kind demeanor. Together, their entertaining storytelling and emotional delivery keep you completely glued to every page, making All I Need an exceptional read that is impossible to recommend enough.
