My Thoughts
Jennifer Sucevic has truly outdone herself with Show Me Forever, the third installment in the Chicago Railers series. This story is an absolute masterclass in the "he falls first and harder" trope, featuring an MMC, Oliver Van Doren, who is so deliciously obsessed with Rina that I found myself reaching for a fan.
Oliver is the star forward for the Railers—a man with the charm of a devil and a talent for PR disasters—while Rina is the team’s brilliant PR queen tasked with cleaning up his messes. Their professional boundaries dissolve in a night of combustible tension, leading to a surprise pregnancy that changes everything.
The audiobook narration by Jason Clarke and Mollie Stark adds incredible depth to this journey, capturing every ounce of Oliver’s protective, bossy, and fiercely devoted nature. What makes this story so special is that Oliver’s "bossiness" isn't about control; it’s rooted in a deep-seated need to take care of Rina and provide her with everything she didn’t even know she needed.
Watching him step up the moment he learns he’s going to be a father is heart-melting, especially as he patiently breaks down the walls Rina has built around her heart. The writing in this book is nothing short of pure poetry. Having read every single one of Jennifer’s books, I can confidently say the prose here reached a new level of magic.
I found myself writing down line after line, completely in awe of how she crafted the emotional beats of this romance. It is a vivid, dynamic, and soulful story that demands you slow down just to soak in the beauty of the words.
While this can be read as a standalone, the way the author interweaves the broader Chicago Railers world makes the experience so much richer. The glimpses of the rest of the team and the teasing of the next story—the grumpy goalie’s book—already have me going feral with anticipation.
Between the forced proximity, the steamy tension, and the "boy-obsessed" devotion, Show Me Forever is an undeniable five-star read that leaves you living in a beautiful romantic afterglow.
