Book Description
SloanDean Lancaster made my college life a nightmare. I ran home and told myself I was free.
Five years later, he finds me again.
He says he’s changed—and sounds convincing. Says he followed me to fix what he broke. Says the future I wanted is still possible—if I trust him.
I don’t.
Because Dean has always known too much about me. Where I live. Who I let close. The parts of my life I never shared.
When an anonymous Valentine letter shows up, I realize something far worse than him finding me again.
He never stopped watching, and now he’s offering me everything I once wanted.
I’m not taking it at face value—and I never will again.
***Part of the multi-author series, Almost: A Dark Valentine -
This Valentine’s season, don’t expect flowers on the doorstep — just the past, wrapped and waiting.***
About C.L. Strickland
Crystal lives in North Florida with her husband, two sons, three dogs and a cat. She loves the beach, playing video games with her boys and hunting/fishing with her husband. If she’s not doing that, she’s either in her writing cave or curled up with a romance novel and a cup of coffee or glass of wine (depending on the time of day). She loves all the feelings that come with romance and all of its sub-genres.
My Thoughts
Dean Lancaster made Sloan’s college years a living hell, and for five years, she truly believed she had finally escaped the nightmare. But when he reappears in her life, he claims to be a changed man, insisting he followed her with the sole intent to fix everything he broke.
He promises her the future she always dreamed of, but after everything she survived, trusting him is the last thing on her mind. Dean has always known far too much about her—her secrets, her whereabouts, and the people she lets close. His sudden return feels less like a coincidence and more like a calculated, lingering obsession.
The tension ratchets up when an anonymous Valentine arrives, forcing Sloan to realize a chilling truth: Dean may never have stopped watching her. As he offers her the world, she must decide if he is truly seeking redemption or if he is simply a master of manipulation.
This story is a gripping exploration of whether a person can truly change or if the past is destined to repeat itself. I absolutely loved this book; the mystery and the intense, "yum" connection between Dean and Sloan kept me hooked until the very last page.
You will have to read it for yourself to uncover the real reason behind Dean's actions and see if he truly deserves a second chance.
