Scars of You by Madi Danielle is a profoundly moving story of healing and resilience, brought to life through the exceptional performances of narrators Sean Masters and Helena Walters. The narrative follows Bailey, who moved to Amity three years ago seeking a fresh start away from the echoes of her past, only to have a one-night stand with a man she soon discovered was her neighbor.

Book Description

Bailey

Three years ago I moved to Amity. This was the place I was going to set my roots and live my life without the constant reminders of the pains of my past. That first night I fell into bed with a sexy stranger, only to find out he’s none other than my neighbor. And he didn’t even remember me or the night we spent together. Or so I thought. Years have past and it seems that may not be the case after all. Even though we don’t get along, our chemistry is impossible to ignore. Turns out the fire between us may not be based on hatred at all. But rather something much more explosive.

Wes

Ten years. Ten years since the entire course of my life was reshaped, and the trauma of it still plagues me nightly. The only time I’m not affected is when I’m driving to nowhere or verbally sparring with my neighbor. The same woman I slept with years ago. I’m drawn to her like a moth to a flame, unable to deny the pull she has on me. The feelings I’ve bottled up for years, growing more and more potent. When she finally gives me the control I crave, we both benefit from it. What starts out as something casual quickly becomes something grounding for us both. But then life throws another curveball at us, and I’m left wondering if the scars of our past will be the thing to truly break us.

About Madi Danielle

Madi is a romance author, wife and mother to one daughter and several animals. When she isn’t reading or writing you may find her watching hockey or some cheesy movie. Madi has been writing since she was a teenager, but it took a backseat when she went to college and got her degree in Family and Human Services. After working as a social worker, she got back into writing as an escape and hasn’t looked back since. Madi is originally from Arizona, but moved to Oregon to attend UO, which is where she still resides with her family.

My Thoughts

Scars of You by Madi Danielle is a profoundly moving story of healing and resilience, brought to life through the exceptional performances of narrators Sean Masters and Helena Walters. The narrative follows Bailey, who moved to Amity three years ago seeking a fresh start away from the echoes of her past, only to have a one-night stand with a man she soon discovered was her neighbor.

While Bailey initially believed her neighbor had forgotten their encounter, the years of verbal sparring that followed only served to mask an undeniable, explosive chemistry. Her neighbor, Wes, has spent a decade haunted by trauma that plagues his every night. He finds his only solace in long drives or his heated interactions with Bailey, drawn to her like a moth to a flame.

As this enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance unfolds, it delves deeply into the realities of PTSD for both characters. The story illustrates how they slowly begin to anchor and heal one another, moving from a relationship that feels casual to something much more grounding. The tension between them eventually gives way to a connection that is both intensely spicy and emotionally restorative.

Sean Masters and Helena Walters do an amazing job of elevating the narrative, capturing the vulnerability and strength of two people trying to build a future while burdened by heavy, dark pasts. Even as life throws new curveballs their way, the story explores whether the scars they carry will ultimately break them or become the very thing that binds them together.
