As is typical of her work, this book is soaked in the strong found family vibes we love, and it even brings back familiar faces: we get to catch up with Maverick and Emmie (from Teasing) as the hero, Camden Monroe, is Emmie's older brother. Camden, Philly's star quarterback, is a single dad in need of a nanny, and luckily, his teammate—who just happens to be the heroine's brother—has the perfect person in mind: his sister, Holly!
This romance delivers all the fun, gutsy charm of your favorite Hallmark Christmas movies. Holly is pure sunshine who loves everything about the holidays, while Camden starts out as a slightly grumpy grinch. You can bet Holly is just the person to warm his heart and break down his walls.
Their initial meet-cute is adorable, with Holly almost literally running into Camden (who is babywearing his five-month-old daughter, Sophie) while getting coffee. Days later, they flirt over diaper purchases at the local store, setting the stage for their brother's teammate/nanny relationship. Their chemistry is fantastic, and falling for each other is inevitable once they're thrust into close proximity. What makes this story especially delightful is that Holly not only falls for Camden but also instantly falls in love with sweet baby Sophie.
The audiobook is a must-listen; Mallon and Crais absolutely nail the emotion and the spice. Bella Matthews truly never misses with her signature top-tier family text message banter; Holly's family provides multiple laugh-out-loud moments, and we can only hope to see some of her siblings become main characters in future books!
This book is a delightful single dad/nanny, grumpy/sunshine holiday romance. The plot seamlessly avoids the dreaded miscommunication trope and, thankfully, doesn't rely on a third-act breakup—it's pure happiness all the way through. While it is technically a novella, it's so well-developed that it doesn't read like one, containing everything you could want in a full-length book. You certainly won't leave feeling unfulfilled. This infectious story, filled with holiday cheer and hilarious family banter, is truly the perfect Christmas romance for the holiday season!
