I just finished the audiobook for Wild Card by Elsie Silver, narrated by the talented duo of Connor Crais and Megan Wicks, and I devoured it in a single sitting. It has been a long time since a book consumed me so completely. The story of Sebastian and Gwendolyn is an emotional roller coaster that had me laughing, giggling, and shedding a few tears. Elsie Silver has a gift for creating characters you truly feel for, and this book is no exception.Book Description
Sebastian Rousseau is a grumpy, hot as hell fire pilot who is too damn good with his hands.
It’s the perfect combination. But unfortunately for me, he’s also my ex-boyfriend’s dad.
A chance meeting brought us together and a missed connection has kept us apart. One year later, a stroke of fate has us living under the same roof—which makes everything between us downright messy.
Because even after all this time, he’s still the man I think about when I fall asleep. The one I can’t get over no matter how hard I try.
He’s working on mending a fragile relationship with his son and we both know acting on these urges would be the ultimate betrayal.
But I see the heat in his eyes. That look of need that never fails to send a shiver down my spine.
The mutual longing is borderline unbearable and the simmering heat between us is downright palpable.
We both know there are rules when it comes to situations like this.
But then again…following the rules never has been my strong suit.

My Thoughts
I just finished the audiobook for Wild Card by Elsie Silver, narrated by the talented duo of Connor Crais and Megan Wicks, and I devoured it in a single sitting. It has been a long time since a book consumed me so completely. The story of Sebastian and Gwendolyn is an emotional roller coaster that had me laughing, giggling, and shedding a few tears. Elsie Silver has a gift for creating characters you truly feel for, and this book is no exception.
Sebastian Rousseau is a hot, grumpy fire pilot with emotional walls a mile high. He's been hurt, and my heart broke for him as he struggled to do what he thought was right. But watching the way Gwendolyn made him feel lighter and seeing him work on himself made my heart flutter. He's a man who recognizes his flaws and actively works to make amends. His struggle to maintain control around Gwendolyn was both frustrating and entertaining, and when it finally slipped, it was a highlight of the book.
Gwendolyn is a light—confident, positive, and passionate about her work as a yoga teacher. She had her own baggage but never let it hold her down. She went after what she wanted, always standing her ground and never making Bash feel second best. Her bond with Bash's father, Clyde, was beautiful and felt like the father-daughter relationship she'd always wanted.
While Bash and Gwen’s chemistry is off the charts, the book also shines through its exploration of relationships and healing. I was worried that the main conflict—the fact that Bash is her ex-boyfriend's dad—would be too complicated, but it was handled incredibly well. They navigated the situation with maturity, even with a few bumps along the road. The book is filled with memorable moments, from their meet-cute with limes and tequila to the raw, vulnerable scenes. The palpable tension between them was so well done, and their instant connection was everything I needed. When the tension finally breaks, it’s a divine and hot experience.
I also have to give a special shoutout to Clyde, who is one of my favorite characters ever. He was a hilarious instigator, and his unwavering support for both Bash and Gwen was so heartwarming.
This is a book that pulls on your heartstrings and will stay with you long after you've finished it. The emotional depth, the character growth, and the sizzling chemistry are all masterfully crafted by author Elsie Silver. The narration by Connor Crais and Megan Wicks was superb, so captivating that I couldn't put the audiobook down.
Elsie Silver has done it again. This book is pure perfection. I'm sad this series is ending, but I cannot wait for her next one. Do yourself a favor and get ready to devour this book!
