My Thoughts

The Men with the Golden Cuffs by Lexi Blake, expertly narrated by Ryan West, plunges listeners into a gripping romantic suspense novel where a woman in danger finds protection—and passion—in the arms of two dedicated men. This book is a fantastic listen!

Bestselling erotic fiction author Serena Brooks is being threatened by a dangerous stalker. Dismissed by the police, who suspect she's seeking publicity, she turns to a specialized government-adjacent organization for help. Her protectors arrive in the form of two inseparable bodyguards: Adam Miles and Jacob Dean.

Adam and Jacob are two halves of a whole, two men searching for the one woman who can complete their trio. Adam is the playful, tender, and indulgent lover, while Jacob is the cautious, possessive, and official Dom. They perfectly balance out the MFM dynamic, and their witty, constant bantering is a highlight, guaranteeing laughs even amid the danger.

Serena is a fascinating heroine. An erotic romance author specializing in BDSM and ménage, she has never experienced it firsthand. Her self-esteem, damaged by a judgmental ex-husband, makes her fear that she won't be enough for the two complex men. This journey is about her exploring her fantasies, overcoming her deep-seated fears, and learning to demand the kindness, tenderness, and affection she deserves.

The plot is a suspense-filled ride as a stalker, more dangerous than anyone imagines, is right under their noses. This story is an excellent blend of strong romantic suspense and erotic elements, providing several edge-of-your-seat moments. The chemistry and steam between the trio are fantastic, and the development of their complex relationship feels realistically earned through mistakes and communication struggles. While the heroes are undeniably hot and committed, there is a challenging moment where Jacob and Adam are truly jerky, relying on punishment when Serena withdraws, which unfortunately taps into her deepest fears. It adds complexity to the relationship but showcases that they, too, are flawed and must seriously grovel to win her back.

Overall, this is an intoxicating and fun listen. The humor and witty dialogue skillfully balance the serious moments, and the BDSM aspect is integral to their dynamic. The mystery is interesting and concludes in a satisfying way. Ryan West does an amazing job narrating, bringing the complex characters and their heated, suspenseful journey to life. Fans of Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series will find this a worthwhile read.
