Book Description
Alone and Looking to Bone! Loudmouthed Mountain Man Seeks Fiery Woman to Grow Old With.
I might look like a tall, tattooed, bearded neanderthal...but like an onion, I have layers. Swipe right if you like a proud cat daddy who catches feelings after direct eye contact.
All I wanted was a casual plus-one to my brother's destination wedding, but those idiots on my family tree hacked my dating profile and sabotaged my quest for the perfect weekend fling. Now I'm stuck on a tropical vacation with only my hand to keep me company.
Until I’m forced to share a room with the bane of my existence: my sister-in-law’s best friend.
Dakota has hated me for the past seven years. I wasn’t losing much sleep over her screaming rants because she was some other guy’s problem. Or she was, until she got divorced.
Being stuck in paradise with a woman who loathes your very existence doesn't sound hot, but after an unexpected moment in our shared palapa, she starts screaming at me in a different way.
What happens in paradise stays in paradise. That is, until Dakota shows up on my mountain with a proposition: be her wingman to help her regain her pre-divorce confidence.
Suddenly, Dakota’s not just person I love to fight with. She’s the woman I want everything with.

My Thoughts
Seven Year Itch by Amy Daws is an absolute delight, building on the success of the first book in the series and somehow managing to be even better. This novel masterfully blends spicy mountain man charm, the irresistible enemies-to-lovers trope, and a hilarious journey through forced proximity and unexpected encounters.
The story kicks off with Calder, a self-proclaimed "tall, tattooed, bearded Neanderthal" who, despite his rugged exterior, reveals surprising layers—he's a proud cat daddy who "catches feelings after direct eye contact." His quest for a casual plus-one to his brother's destination wedding is comically sabotaged by his meddling family, leaving him stranded in paradise with only his hand for company. That is, until he's forced to share a room with the bane of his existence: his sister-in-law's best friend, Dakota.
Dakota and Calder have a rocky, seven-year history of mutual loathing. While Calder never lost sleep over Dakota's "screaming rants" when she was "some other guy's problem," her recent divorce changes everything. Being stuck in a tropical paradise with a woman who despises you doesn't sound appealing, but an unexpected moment in their shared palapa ignites a different kind of "screaming." What happens in paradise is supposed to stay there, but the story takes a brilliant turn when Dakota shows up on Calder's mountain with a proposition: she needs a wingman to help her regain her pre-divorce confidence. This shift from adversaries to reluctant allies sets off a chain of chaos and undeniable chemistry.
This book is genuinely hilarious; I found myself laughing out loud constantly. The banter between Dakota and Calder is top-tier, and the narration by Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton is simply perfection. Their comedic timing is impeccable, making the angry, heavier moments just as engaging as the lighthearted ones. Beyond the humor, the novel is packed with heart and spice, a true hallmark of Amy Daws's writing. The Fletcher family's persistent, inventive meddling adds another layer of joy, especially during the destination wedding, leading to constant cackling. Daws expertly balances the excitement of anticipating what comes next with the comforting predictability that makes romance novels feel like home.
I'm a sucker for a strong female character who knows what she wants, and Dakota's post-divorce journey is incredibly cheering. Watching her find herself and her voice is truly inspiring, even if there are a few eye-rolling "grow up, you're adults" moments. These minor quibbles, however, don't overshadow the profound impact of Dakota's character and the many moments to cherish. I absolutely loved Dakota and this entire book. If you're looking for a spicy, laugh-out-loud rom-com with genuine heart, Seven Year Itch is a must-read.
