Love is her deepest dive
After her beloved brother Nathan dies in a tragic cave diving accident, Maddie leaves everything behind to start fresh in Maverick Key, hoping that the move to the cottage he left behind will help her heal from her grief. She feels immediately closer to Nathan in the small seaside town, but can’t shake the nagging suspicion that his death might not have been an accident—and that his cryptic notes may hint at something more. And then there's the brooding and widowed diver, Scott, who she can't get off her mind.
As fortune hunters and internet celebrity adventurer Wes Harrington descend on Maverick Key to explore Carter's Drop—the underwater cavern that claimed Nathan's life—Maddie is forced to confront her feelings for Scott and her unanswered questions about Nathan’s disappearance.
Wes might be a world-class charmer, but her simmering romance with Scott captures Maddie's heart—even if his protective nature might keep her from diving into the truth.
As a threatening storm descends on the Key, Nathan’s secrets are roiled like the angry seas, putting Maddie’s life and heart in danger as the past shows up at her front door.
Author’s Note: A beautiful, grief-stricken veterinarian is stripped of her usual sunshiny demeanor in the wake of her brother's death. When she encounters the brooding, widowed, former military diver who knew her brother well, she falls hard—and he falls harder. This first novel in the Maverick Key series blends steamy small-town romance with romantic suspense and diving adventure in an unforgettable seaside setting.

My Thoughts
After her brother, Nathan, dies in a tragic cave diving accident, Maddie moves to his cottage in Maverick Key to heal from her grief. While she feels closer to him in the small Florida seaside town, she can't shake the suspicion that his death was not an accident—and that his cryptic notes hint at a dangerous secret.
Soon, Maddie is caught between her deep-seated questions and a budding romance with Scott, a brooding, widowed diver who knew her brother well. While a charming celebrity adventurer descends on the key to explore the very underwater cavern that claimed Nathan's life, Maddie's simmering romance with Scott captures her heart. However, Scott’s protective nature may keep her from diving into the truth about her brother.
This book is the perfect blend of steamy small-town romance and gripping romantic suspense. The author, Margot Keene, does an incredible job describing the Gulf of Florida setting and painting a vivid picture of the underwater caves. Watching Maddie’s growth from a grief-stricken veterinarian to a confident woman was a highlight, and the rich cast of side characters adds to the charm.
The second half of the book had me on the edge of my seat, as a storm approaches and Nathan's secrets are roiled like the angry seas, putting Maddie's life and heart in danger. I truly did not see the ending coming! The full cast in duet style—including Andi Arndt, Gregory Salinas, Tim Paige, Brandon Francis, Angelina Rocca, Robert Fass, and Greg Tremblay—brings every emotion to life.
This was everything I needed in a summer read, and I can't wait for the next book in the series after that cliffhanger!
